Stupid human

Devin remained silent for a while. When he returned from his business trip, he found no one at home. At first, he didn't think much of it because he assumed she was too shy to face him after his confession. He waited for days, but she showed no sign of returning. He tried calling her, but her phone was unreachable. Anxious and worried, he sent his men out to look for her, but there was no information about her. He almost thought he had lost her. His hope returned when he called her again, and her phone went through.

"Emmy, why did you run away?" Devin asked in a longing voice.

"I didn't run away," Emmy replied. "Give me a few more months; I will return to complete my job," she added.

"Emmy, a few more months? Are you avoiding me because of my confession?" Devin's voice shook slightly.

"What are you talking about?" Emmy asked in confusion; she seemed to have forgotten Devin's confession before he left.

"Emmy, I'm warning you, you can't run away from me. Tell me where you are, and I will come and fetch you," Devin replied.

Emmy wondered if Devin had been drinking because he sounded as if he were ordering his disobedient wife. "Sorry to ask, but are you drunk?" she asked uncontrollably.

Devin remained silent again before speaking. "Where exactly are you?"

"I will return after some months; I will hang up now," Emmy replied, immediately disconnecting the call. She removed her SIM card, broke it, and threw it away. "I won't be tracked by him this way," she murmured to herself, glancing at her children, who were looking at her with strange expressions. "Did they hear our conversation? But I lowered the volume," she thought to herself.

Emmy wasn't completely aware of her children's extraordinary abilities. Even though she had turned the volume down to the lowest setting, if they wanted to hear the conversation, they could, even if the phone was muted. Thus, every conversation between Devin and Emmy had been heard by the children.

Snow looked around, and after confirming that no one was nearby, she stretched out her hand, and a snowy white notebook and a pen with a white design appeared in her palm. She picked them up and wrote while saying, "Mother received a confession from her boss," confirming Emmy's suspicion.

Emmy was dumbfounded.

"I knew something wasn't right the day I visited you. I could sense some feelings, but I chose to ignore it because my focus was on you. Turns out I wasn't mistaken. Your boss has fallen for you," Sona chuckled. Even though they had discovered Devin's feelings for Emmy a few months ago during their attack on James when they checked his memories, she couldn't help but tease Emmy.

Sonia smiled but cursed Sona internally. "Can't you see I'm trying to hide your wrist? Stop moving around!" she lectured inwardly, stylishly pinching Sona.

Sona looked at Sonia and seemed to realize something. Her smile slowly faded, and she made the wristwatch disappear immediately.

After confirming that the wristwatch was gone, Sonia breathed a sigh of relief and separated herself from Sona.

"Calm down, children. This is a big misunderstanding—a big one. He is probably drunk," Emmy smiled awkwardly, finally recalling Devin's confession.

"It's fine. If Mother likes him, we will accept him as well, but not as our father. We only have you as our father and mother," Snow chuckled as the pen and notebook disappeared.

The others nodded in agreement.

"Feel free," Dave appeared beside Emmy, giving her a teasing smile with his arm around her shoulder.

"What are you talking about, babies? Stop teasing your mother," Emmy said, somewhat embarrassed. "By the way, what about that angel girl? How is she?" she looked at Dimitri.

The smile on Dimitri's face slowly faded. He was about to reply when the lecture bell rang.

"I will leave you guys. Go to class, okay?" Emmy decided not to push the conversation forward after seeing Dimitri's grim expression. She took the lead and left after confirming their well-being.

"How can you be so careless?" Sonia frowned at Sona right after Emmy was out of sight.

"My bad, my bad," Sona smiled apologetically.

"Be careful and check thoroughly next time," Dimitri scoffed in a bad mood and left.

"I say... you are lucky this time," Snow commented and exited as well.

"He is here for you; I leave him to you," Dave patted Sona's shoulder and left.

"Be careful," Desmond advised before he too departed.

"Hmph," Sonia followed suit and left.

After everyone was out of sight, Sona walked toward a specific corner and grabbed someone's collar, dragging the person out. "That crazy Enward sent you," she spoke coldly.

"No offense, future lady boss, I just want to confirm your house, that's all." The man was frightened and quickly explained himself; he finally understood what the man earlier meant by, 'He is here for you, I leave him to you.' "So they knew I was here all this while," he thought to himself.

"Who is your future lady boss?" Sona was enraged, wasting no time; she touched the man's head and looked into his eyes.

"Her destination was very complicated; I couldn't understand," she said, staring deeply into his eyes.

The man's face went pale and looked lifeless. Sona's blue-green colored eyes reflected in his eyes, and he repeated, "Her destination was very complicated; I couldn't understand."

A blue-green light entered the man's head from Sona's palm, and she left him. "Go back and report your findings," she said with a warning smile.

"Yes," the man replied and left.

"You are not aware of who you are messing with, stupid human," Sona dusted her hands and left.

*Enward Mansion.*

Enward and his sister were looking at a black-clothed man with messy hair as if they were looking at a crazy man.

"What is the meaning of this, Samson? Are you being hunted by a ghost on your way?" Enward asked Samson angrily.

"Samson wanted to remember something, but he couldn't. I'm not, boss; her destination was very complicated, I couldn't understand," he said.

Enward and Mary exchanged glances.

"Do I need to send him to the hospital to get him checked up? He is repeating the same statement, and it's giving me a headache already," Enward said to Mary.

"I think he needs it," Mary replied, looking at Samson with a belittling gaze. "A professional hidden bodyguard like him behaving like this? He must have hit his head," she added.

Samson didn't reply, as he himself wasn't in his right mind; he couldn't recall a thing about Sona. The more he tried to recall the more he couldn't, he was completely at loss.

Enward cast another glance at Samson and hissed.
