And if that was the case, then wasn't the greatest time to let his buried curiosity run amok?

If Old Sage couldn't even handle this much, then there was no need of keeping her by his side any longer.

The greatest mercy would have been to kill her on the spot.
But the Compass had pointed at her. And she had handled herself well. Then there was the matter of her being a Lead Protector.
Unless he figured out the mystery behind it all, it wouldn't matter if he had one more convenience around him.
Another throne appeared right next to Kai's high-back one.
Black patted Old Sage's head again. His butler clothing churned in coils. When he took the throne, he was wearing his signature black jacket, black jeans, and black shoes.
