After struggling to decapitate three zombies, the trio finally reached the observatory and barricaded the stairs. Exhausted, they collapsed to the ground.
But soon after, both Hisashi and Takashi showed signs of severe pain.
"Hisashi, are you okay? What's happening?" Rei asked, her attention fixed on Hisashi, who was visibly suffering.
"Rei, I think... we're not going to make it," Hisashi replied, coughing up blood, his eyes sunken and surrounded by dark circles.
"Takashi, Hisashi..." Rei turned to seek help but was horrified to see that Takashi's condition seemed even worse.
"Why is it so serious from just one bite?" Rei muttered, feeling her world crumble around her.
"It's just like in the movies... once bitten, it's over," Hisashi sighed, finally accepting the grim reality.
"That's nonsense! Movies can't be real!" Rei protested, but Hisashi cut her off.
"Look around, Rei. Everything is just like the movies," Hisashi said, his voice hoarse and full of resignation.
"Rei, can you do us a favor?" Hisashi asked, sensing his time was running out.
"What do you need?" Rei replied, her voice trembling.
"If you push us from here, the fall might crush our heads, ending this nightmare," Hisashi explained.
Rei, horrified by the suggestion, could barely comprehend what Hisashi was asking of her. Takashi, too, understood Hisashi's plan and began to panic.
"Wait, no! I don't want to die!" Takashi shouted, clinging to a desperate hope that there might be a cure.
"Don't be ridiculous!" Hisashi yelled, his frustration evident as he coughed up more blood.
"Hisashi, please, don't..." Rei pleaded, unable to bring herself to follow through with Hisashi's request.
As time passed, both Hisashi and Takashi lost their consciousness, transforming into the undead.
"No... Hisashi, Takashi, it's me!" Rei cried out, her golden hair glistening as she backed away from the advancing zombies.
At that moment, a bright light suddenly appeared, cutting through the gloomy sky and striking both Hisashi and Takashi. The powerful impact sent them flying over ten meters away, followed by a massive explosion in the air.
Rei, stunned by the sudden turn of events, looked around in confusion. She then noticed Vegeta not far away.
"Is that... a human? Can humans fly?" Rei muttered, unsure of what she was seeing.
Meanwhile, inside the school, people who were on the brink of being overwhelmed by zombies noticed the series of explosions around them. As the smoke cleared, they saw various craters and signs of destruction, leaving them in shock and confusion.
In the medical room, a blonde doctor and a purple-haired girl wielding a wooden sword also noticed the unexpected explosions. The doctor, with her serene demeanor, and the girl, who had been fighting off the zombies, were both astonished as the remaining zombies were obliterated by the blasts.
In just over a minute, Vegeta had effortlessly wiped out all the zombies on campus. His precise control of energy allowed him to eliminate the undead while avoiding harm to any students.
Despite his efficiency, Vegeta soon realized that the noise had attracted more zombies from the surrounding area, and they were converging on the school.
