Artificial Human (1)

When the Host came to, he was floating in light blue slimy liquid. He couldn't move but he could see that he was in some sort of laboratory. He was also naked.

There was no one else in the room so he closed his eyes and prompted System 225 to give him the data of this world.

The world he was in was an apocalyptic world with the typical zombies. The zombies were not slow by all means, some were extremely fast, but their speed and strength depended on their tier.

Only a few cities in each country remained for a few years before humanity was wiped out.

The original Adam 1 was the sole person capable of saving and destroying humanity. They were the original and the only perfect creation out of all the failed products, the zombies. Scientists were trying to create the perfect artificial human, giving them no gender. This made it so that they were different from the real humans so that they would become emotionless weapons.

Zombies were created due to an imperfection in their genome. Somehow, just their breath was capable of spreading a virus into humans, which was how humans were turned into zombies in the first outbreak.

Ability Users were created because they weren't affected by the airborne virus. But that virus unlocked abilities within some humans. Some were able to evolve like such, while others were just normal humans who had a strong resistance to the virus. Anyway, these Ability Users didn't get all of his abilities, only one or two.

It hasn't been long since the first outbreak, but there were only a billion people left in this world out of 10 billion people. That meant there were a lot of zombies. It wouldn't be surprising if humanity was destroyed in the next couple of years.

Two years after the first outbreak, Adam 1 was found by a group of researchers who were exploring the abandoned capital of country A. They tried to exploit Adam 1, trying to upgrade Ability Users, but this gave Adam 1 immense pain.

After a couple of years of cruel experiments, Adam 1 couldn't take it anymore and obliterated the facility they were in. In anger, they caused an uprising with the zombies. They strengthen the zombies by 10-fold, destroying humanity in less than a year from when they escaped the facility.

After all the zombies died of starvation, Adam 1, who didn't need food or water to live, wandered the world endlessly, wanting more than anything to kill themselves, but they were incapable of doing so. Their resentment was so strong, they blew up the world and their body, hoping that it would cease their suffering.

After reading this, it made the Host's heart hurt. Adam 1 was blackened by greedy humans. The artificial human who only wanted to experience the world was made into a lab rat and exploited until their will to live was turned into dust.

Even though Adam 1 was an artificial human, they had basic ideas of emotions they wanted to explore. They wanted to interact with people, see how people lived, and how they survived the hardships of the apocalypse. It was unfortunate they trusted the first people they had met so easily...

'System, what are my missions?' Adam 1, the Host, vowed to give Adam 1 everything they wanted, even if they wanted the whole world.

[Host, here are your missions.

[Main Mission: Save Humanity.

 Side Mission: Develop a cure.

[Good luck with your endeavors, Host.]

That main mission was extremely vague and difficult to accomplish. The vaccine, even if he created it, didn't mean it could save all of humanity. What would happen if the greedy people of humanity decided to charge people for it? Or an idiot decided they wanted to kill him for finding the cure? Or got mad that he wanted it to be free of charge?

There would be problems with a vaccine or cure anyway. They could only help those who were newly infected and could not help those who had already completed the transformation into zombies. That means if the zombies got stronger than the Ability Users, then regardless if there was a vaccine or cure, it wouldn't save humanity from the 9+ billion zombies. It was unrealistic to even think of destroying all the zombies.

'System 225, are you out to kill me? Have I done you wrong?' Adam 1 half-jokingly said.

[Host, I have warned you of the upcoming difficulties you will face as we proceed.]

'Yeah, yeah, I know. I was just pushing your buttons. I will figure something out.'

After getting the world plot, Adam 1 sighed. He was still floating in the blue slime that was preserving his body. He tried to move around, but the slime was viscous, so it was hard to move in. He slowly moved his way to the glass in front of him and tried to lower himself down. It took about 30 minutes for his feet to reach the floor of the tank he was in. Looking around, there were no buttons or latches anywhere inside the tank.

There was nothing he could do to get himself out, so he had to ask System 225 to hack into the system of the facility to get him out.

[Do not worry, Host. I will get you out of there.]

It only took a couple of seconds before he heard System 225's voice again.

[Host, I found the mechanism to get you out. But be careful as you and the slime will be rushing out of the tank.]

'Go ahead, I'm ready.'

[Understood, releasing the Host... Now.]

Just as System 225 said, Adam 1 heard a click sound. He could feel all the slime rushing towards the glass in front of him. He realized that the glass was slowly moving downwards, releasing all the contents of the tank with him. He felt his body being pulled out, and before he knew it, he fell on the ground with all the slime. It didn't hurt but it was annoying that the slime was everywhere. If he stood up now, he would probably slip and fall once again.

[I apologize, Host, that was the only way to open the tank.]

'It's okay, I'm just slightly annoyed at the design of the tank.'

There weren't any electronic devices or computers of any sort in the room he was in. There was a camera and a one-way glass that probably had a room where the researchers stared at him.

'System, is there any place I can wash up and get some clothes?'

[Host, according to the layout of this facility, there is a locker room down the hall from this room. It has a shower and clothes left behind by the researchers. I don't know if they are clean though since I can't really tell.]

Adam 1 thanked System 225 before slowly trying to crawl away from the slime that was all over the floor. Once he got away, he slowly stood up and stumbled a bit.

The body was not used to walking. Adam 1 had been in the tank since their creation, so it wasn't shocking that they couldn't walk well.

He slowly made his way to the door and used the wall to help him walk. His movements were slow, but Adam 1 was patient. He didn't mind taking his time, so he focused on walking. If he fell, it would take longer for him to get washed up.

It took him about 10 minutes to get to the locker room and he quickly washed up. Somehow there was fresh clean water, so he assumed that there was a tank or even a clean reservoir underneath or next to the facility.

He found clothes around the locker room that were a bit dusty, but they were wearable after he shook the dust off of them. Actually, it looked as though there were robots that came into the locker room daily. It wasn't really that dirty and the floor was sparkling clean.

According to System 225, there were cleaning robots throughout the facility, so that made sense. It was annoying they didn't notice the clothes though.

He found clean underwear in a plastic wrap that had never been opened. It was a bit big but it didn't move, so he wore them like pants. He found a white clean shirt and a lab coat so we wore those too. The lab coat was big on him as it almost reached the floor. He couldn't find any shoes or socks, so he had to walk around barefoot. He looked odd, but it was better than being stark naked and cold.

'Alright System. Is there anyone in this facility right now?'

[Answering Host, there is not. Actually, there is no one in this city. It has long been abandoned at the start of the apocalypse. Because this was the capital city, there were a lot of people. The more people, the easier it was to spread the zombie virus. It's not surprising that people tried to escape this city.]

That was perfect for Adam 1. People wouldn't come to this city for several more months, so he had plenty of time to prepare for his upcoming battle and get some side missions out of the way.

The closest place that had humans was 3 hours away, that's if one were to drive there. It was a huge base that they were using to scout the area. It was also heavily fortified by the military since that was where they all ran. Many people on the continent tried their best to get to this fort called MI Base. This was also the place that had the research facility that tortured Adam 1.

Adam 1 eventually wanted to get to this base. Everything would slowly fall into place when he got there.

He also wanted to find his God System, hoping that the man was close. He didn't know where he was, but he hoped the man would be okay by the time they met.

****

At MI Base, a man was sitting in an office looking over reports that were pertaining to the functions of the base.

He had black hair and brown eyes. He was tall and muscular. His skin-tight shirt accentuated his muscles. He wore camo, military pants, and black combat boots. He looked exhausted because he hadn't slept in a few days.

This man was once just a normal university student who was about to graduate and go further along with his career. He wanted to be an engineer and was hoping to work for his parents' company that dealt in that area. He was rich, smart, and had good looks.

His future seemed bright and prosperous until the first zombie outbreak happened.

This man had awoken a day later as a dual-ability user. He soon became the strongest in the base. His abilities were metal and lightning, very compatible with his love for engineering.

"Mr. Le, we found signs of life in the capital. It was underground, but it seems to be moving around in that facility the researchers have been worried about." Lieutenant Cooper stated as he handed some documents over to his superior.

"Are you sure it isn't just a zombie that's underground?"

"No sir, there's a life force. This person is alive and trapped underground."

"Didn't we tell people to not approach the capital? Is there someone foolish enough to go against our orders?"

They were hired to get to a research facility and the presidential building that was in the capital which was why they had blocked the area off. There were millions of zombies in the capital, taking months, even years to get rid of half of them. Even he, the strongest of the Ability Users in the base, couldn't rashly charge his way through.

Mr. Le, aka Morgan Le, was placed in high regard within the military. Only a year after the apocalypse, he was already given the title of General. There weren't many people who could spar with this man. It was like his life as a student was never a thing and he had served in the military since he was young.

"Sir, we made sure no one came through. The satellites have been monitoring the area since the start of the apocalypse and no one has gone through since our shutdown. It was only this morning that there was a spark of life in the capital. We don't know if this is a human but it's quite concerning that they are underground. Maybe there is a way to get to the capital using underground channels."

"You mean the underground channels that the past presidents have used to escape calamities? That has already been blocked as the tunnels collapsed and it's impossible for us to get through. There is no way normal civilians would be able to get through either."

Morgan and the other man, Cooper, were standing in Morgan's office, contemplating what to do next.

"Sir, should we order a rescue operation for this individual?"

"No, monitor their movements for now. Our main priority right now is to figure out a way to get into the capital. Maybe that individual can figure out how to get into the capital and bypass all the zombies."

There were too many zombies in the capital to even try to attempt to get through. There were limited amounts of ammo, car gas, Ability Users, food supplies, etc. There were warehouses in the capital, left untouched. It would be best to get those as soon as possible too.

The capital was known as Zone Black. Zone Black meant there were no survivors. Anyone who was in the vicinity of the first outbreak had a 0% chance of surviving.

The President was traveling at the time and was able to escape. They had no idea where that man was, so martial law had been in place since then. Luckily, the military personnel had bases all over the world, allowing many high-ranking military officials to stay alive and become ability users.

"Cooper, let the researchers know that we will be delaying our operations to lead them inside the capital"

"Yes, sir!" Cooper saluted before excusing himself out the door.

Morgan sat back down at his desk and rubbed his temples. He didn't know why, but he had an unknown feeling about the individual in the capital. He felt that he needed to find this person first or else something bad would happen.
