Chapter 102: Shooting Duel

Leon Chen was surprised to find that the target 25 meters away seemed as if it were right in front of him. His vision had greatly improved after prolonged use of his physical abilities, but his shooting skills hadn't necessarily kept up. The first five shots all landed outside the eighth ring.

Of course, for a beginner, this result was already quite ideal.

Scarlett Ning nodded approvingly from the side, correcting Leon's mistakes quickly. She noticed that he had quite a bit of talent. Most people she had seen handling a handgun for the first time were very nervous, jerking the trigger, holding their breath too soon, and missing the golden moment.

Apart from Leon's initial nervousness, he quickly adapted, and his shooting skills exceeded expectations.

His grip was firm, his breathing steady, and the confidence in his eyes impressed Scarlett.

No matter what you do, as long as you have confidence, you can succeed.

"At this rate, I'll soon be able to teach you rapid and moving target shooting!"

After a while, Manager Xiao suddenly came running over, looking very anxious as he whispered something to Scarlett. Although his voice was low, Leon heard every word clearly.

"Miss Ning, someone has broken your record of hitting 650 flying discs in one minute."

"Who is it?"

"A person brought by Major Qiu from the East China Military District. His shooting skills are exceptional."

"Let's go take a look."

"Leon, you can practice with other firearms to get used to the recoil. I have something to take care of. Wait for me here," Scarlett instructed before leaving with Manager Xiao.

For Leon, who possessed numerous superpowers, guns didn't hold much significance. After hitting the bullseye with his last shot, he headed to the flying disc shooting range, curious about the record.

The mobile flying disc range resembled a golf course, with a white observation tower outside the field, where many people were gathered.

Leon squeezed in and saw Scarlett standing in the center with two guns, looking like a heroine from a game.

The atmosphere was tense. Suddenly, ten round flying discs shot out from around Scarlett. She raised her guns, and in the blink of an eye, ten flying discs exploded in mid-air. Another ten discs flew out immediately after.

Leon found Scarlett's shooting skills unbelievable.

Her shooting movements were smooth and fluid, accurately hitting flying discs from all directions without missing a single one. Her speed in changing magazines was flawless.

The sky was filled with the red smoke of shattered discs. In fifty seconds, at least three hundred flying discs were shot down, an astonishing efficiency that amazed everyone present.

When the last ten discs, skimming the grass, were also shot down without exception, the final count was 660.

The crowd let out a collective sigh of regret.

A group of people started congratulating a man with a prominent brow and upright posture rather sourly, which must be Major Qiu.

Leon was shocked; hitting 660 flying discs in one minute was incredible.

"That's really annoying," a hoarse voice cursed.

Following the voice, Leon saw that it was Lucas Luo speaking, with the bald man next to him. Their faces looked like they had encountered a great enemy, clenching their teeth. It wasn't just them; other soldiers also wore expressions of resentment.

However, some officers were quite pleased, clearly indicating the existence of distinct factions.

After asking Manager Xiao, Leon realized that the matter was far from simple.

"Mr. Damien's 650 flying discs broke Miss Ning's record," Manager Xiao said regretfully. "Even though Miss Scarlett shot down 660 discs, it wasn't enough."

"Is it just a record?" Leon noticed Scarlett's face looked unhappy when she walked out.

"You don't know? A few years ago, Miss Ning made a bold statement that anyone who could create a new record would get her first kiss. That's why so many people come here every day hoping to win a kiss from her. That guy got lucky," Manager Xiao explained.

Leon frowned, finally understanding why the officers held Scarlett in such high regard.

Indeed, strength commands respect.

Scarlett walked towards the bar where the smug man stood.

The shooter also stepped out, drawing everyone's gaze. His complexion was pale, his fingers slender and long. He stood silently behind a man.

Everyone watched intently.

"Miss Ning, it's an honor to break your record," the man said, squinting his eyes and twirling a military knife.

"This is Mr. Damien. I specially invited him from the US Special Forces for your first kiss," he smiled slightly. "I suppose I can claim your first kiss now."

"Jackie Qiu, you're dreaming!" Lucas Luo's face turned livid as he stepped out, with officers from the North China Military District standing by his side.

"If you dare ask for Scarlett's first kiss, I'll shoot you."

The officers on Qiu's side also glared angrily, showing no fear. Both sides represented major military districts; neither was willing to back down.

"This is Scarlett's own rule. Lucas, don't meddle," Jackie Qiu sneered. "Don't think you're the future son-in-law of the Ning family just because you have a good relationship with them..."

"Jackie, I'll break you today."

The situation almost escalated into a brawl.

"Enough!" Scarlett's icy command made both sides restrain themselves.

"Scarlett, you said anyone who breaks your record gets your kiss. Now I've brought someone who did it, and he's willing to give me the chance. You won't go back on your word, right?" Jackie Qiu licked his lips provocatively.

Scarlett glanced at Damien and sneered, "You really found quite the helper, Qiu."

Jackie raised an eyebrow, maintaining his composure. "I went through great lengths for this."

At this moment, the crowd gasped as Jackie Qiu approached Scarlett, towering over her. Scarlett remained cold, seemingly indifferent to the impending kiss.

The atmosphere was filled with heartache and gritted teeth. Being outdone by the other military district was infuriating, especially when they couldn't break Damien's record of 680 flying discs.

"Jackie, if you touch Scarlett, I won't let you go," Lucas Luo roared.

"Do all the North China Military District soldiers talk like that?" Jackie Qiu said impatiently, his smile unpleasant.

"Scarlett has a boyfriend now, so this rule is void," Lucas Luo suddenly said with a smile.

Jackie Qiu was stunned.

Finally, someone thought of Leon, and the officers pushed him forward. Both sides' eyes were fixed on him with surprise.

Scarlett was also surprised, her usual cold expression now biting her lip.

Jackie Qiu sized up Leon with disdain.

A waste!

"Let this kid stay out of it, Scarlett. What do you say?" Jackie continued playing with his knife. "If you admit your past promise was nonsense, I'll treat the North China Military District the same."

"Stop it!" Scarlett sighed heavily, rubbing her forehead. Why had things become so complicated?

She gave Leon an apologetic look. She hadn't expected a fake boyfriend to cause such a mess. "Leon, can you step aside for a moment?"

Someone laughed, and Scarlett's knuckles turned white from clenching her fists.

Saying this made her heart ache.

She almost wanted to say Leon wasn't her boyfriend!

But the military officers wouldn't see it that way. Qiu's men were full of mockery, while Luo's side felt more sympathetic. Watching your girlfriend kiss another man was humiliating, especially for a soldier. It would be a lifelong disgrace.

"Scarlett!" Luo's expression changed.

"Don't become their laughingstock, OK?" Scarlett said expressionlessly. "It's just a kiss. I already gave my first kiss to Leon."

"No matter. As long as I get to kiss the princess of the North China Military District, I'm satisfied," Qiu smiled victoriously, glancing at Leon with contempt as he approached Scarlett again.

Luo's men looked like they wanted to kill.

"Let her go!"

The cold voice startled everyone.

Leon?!

Luo's expression relaxed a bit, thinking his brother at least wasn't a coward.

Leon knew that if he remained silent, he wouldn't be able to stand it himself. Scarlett kissing someone was her business, but that guy was too arrogant. If he didn't speak up, how could he face being Scarlett's boyfriend?

Scarlett was incredibly surprised. She pushed Qiu away and walked towards Leon.

"Leon, don't get involved."

Not get involved? Leon couldn't stand Jackie Qiu's smug expression. No matter what the promise was.

"Who are you?" Jackie Qiu said slowly, his disdain evident.

"Do I just need to set a new record for Scarlett to stay away from this guy?" Leon asked Lucas Luo.

Lucas nodded.

Did this first-time shooter think he could break the record?

The crowd laughed inwardly.

"Then let me try!" Leon said casually. Although he had just learned to shoot, he was confident in his judgment and reaction.

"You're crazy," Scarlett muttered, thinking her friend just didn't want to see her humiliated.

Jackie Qiu eyed Leon skeptically. "You?"

After a moment of silence, Qiu's officers burst into laughter.

"Hey, kid, this shooting is different from your 'shooting'."

"He's got guts for his age."

Lucas's side fell silent, doubting Leon's capability. They even wondered if he had ever held a gun before.

But since Leon was Scarlett's boyfriend, they held their tongues.
