Chapter 130: Dark Sand Racetrack

Angelina Dream drove the Dodge Viper to the Dark Sand Racetrack, and Leon Chen couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed. This meeting with the so-called "Triad" was far from the grandeur he had imagined. Instead of a world-renowned criminal organization, it seemed more like a low-tier underground gang.

The Dark Sand Racetrack was located in the suburbs of West Capital, at the foot of Mount Mei. This place used to be a desolate wasteland but was now filled with all kinds of cars. Most were Audis, Jettas, and Chery QQs, but there were also Ferraris, Maybachs, and Bugatti Veyrons.

The racetrack was lively, with gothic-style rock music filling the night, giving it an arrogant and rebellious atmosphere, like a hungry wolf.

Men and women in bizarre outfits filled the area, smoking, drinking, laughing loudly, cursing, and kissing in public. Among them were also well-dressed rich kids and urban white-collar workers, tired of bars and KTVs, seeking the deadly thrill of the racetrack. Under the cover of night, they shed their daytime personas of elegance and propriety.

Passion was the main theme here.

"No way, Freemasons?" Leon muttered, feeling the decadence of the scene was quite depraved.

In "Black Lagoon," the Triads were depicted as arrogant and stylish, akin to characters like Mark Gor.

How could West Capital's Triads be like this?

Angelina sneered at him, "This is just one of the underground racetracks in West Capital, a territory controlled by the Triads. Did you expect them to throw a grand welcome party for you?"

Leon laughed awkwardly. He had indeed expected too much.

Ignoring him, Angelina continued driving the Dodge Viper. The dark green sports car stood out in the night, especially with the snake emblem embedded with two emeralds, emitting a cold, eerie light that was more eye-catching than the headlights.

Leon thought Angelina had a knack for dramatic flair.

The decadent crowd stared at the Dodge Viper in astonishment as it drove by.

Finally, the car stopped in a reserved spot. Angelina stepped out, now in a different outfit, unafraid of being recognized, confident that even if people did recognize her, they wouldn't dare do anything.

Leon got out of the car, immediately feeling a familiar wave of jealousy surrounding him.

"Where's Ethan?" Angelina asked, looking at her diamond-studded watch with a hint of impatience.

"Ethan is racing," replied a tall man, glancing at Leon. "Is this him?"

"Yes. Do you think I would lie to you?" Angelina retorted.

"Oh." The man stared at Leon for a moment without saying more.

"Who is Ethan racing against?" Angelina inquired.

"His opponent is Zhang Jun from Huadu," the man shrugged.

Angelina nodded and turned to Leon. "He's racing right now. Let's watch first." The cars were equipped with automatic tracking cameras, showing the intense speed and thrill of the race on a big screen.

Leading was a red Ferrari, followed by a black Lamborghini Murciélago. Leon's attention was drawn to the Murciélago. Despite being behind, the car exuded a sense of ease, navigating the many twists and turns of the Dark Sand Racetrack as if taking a leisurely stroll.

"Is Ethan Li driving the Lamborghini?" Leon asked.

"How did you know?" Angelina smiled.

"Just a guess. The car has a remarkable presence."

"Good eye," Angelina laughed. "His racing skills are top-notch. The Triads in West Capital, feeling suppressed, often use racing as a pastime."

The crowd roared as the two cars approached the final S-curve before the finish line. Leon knew this was where the real competition began.

The Ferrari made a slight mistake during the turn, and the Lamborghini took advantage with a smooth drift, skimming the mountain wall to overtake, then executing another precise drift, like a master swordsman delivering a fatal strike.

The Murciélago won without a hitch.

The black Lamborghini soon returned. As it approached, Leon noticed a pendant hanging inside the car, matching the prompt on his watch—serendipity indeed, a raw gem was hanging there.

A man and a woman got out of the car. The woman was merely a decorative sidekick, but the man exuded a refined aura, akin to a serene chrysanthemum.

The tall man spoke to the refined man with great respect, after which the refined man walked over with a pleasant smile.

"Angelina, I heard you're planning a world tour? If you need any help, let me know."

"There will be many things I'll need your help with," Angelina smiled. "This is the friend I mentioned, Leon Chen!"

Ethan Li had already noticed Leon. Hearing Angelina's introduction, he raised an eyebrow, "I've heard so much about you! I was eager to meet the young man who dared to confront Chase Wei, and you're even more surprising than I imagined."

"Truly a young hero," Ethan Li laughed.

"This matter has little to do with me. It was the chairman's help," Leon shook his head.

Ethan Li didn't argue. His ability to conceal his thoughts was impressive, and Leon couldn't read him. However, Leon felt Ethan Li was hiding something.

The ensuing conversation was predictable, mainly revolving around Leon's views on Chase Wei. Leon answered diplomatically, neither overly arrogant nor servile.

Ethan Li nodded in approval.

However, the head of the West Capital Triad was puzzled: Leon's background had been thoroughly investigated and found to be remarkably unremarkable.

This meeting was intended to gain a better understanding of Leon, hoping to find some useful information to aid the Triads' expansion in West Capital. Yet, Leon's behavior was perplexing.

Was this student exceptionally arrogant or simply exceptionally cautious?

Otherwise, why was he so calm?

Ethan Li frowned slightly, feeling uncomfortable with this inscrutable individual.

Just as Ethan Li pondered how to further probe Leon, a voice called out, "It's you!"

Everyone turned to see a middle-aged man, looking surprised.

Leon found the man vaguely familiar but couldn't place him.

"Do you know him?" Angelina asked.

The middle-aged man, seeing Leon conversing with Ethan Li, quickly bowed respectfully, "Ah, so you're a friend of Brother Ethan. I really didn't recognize you that day."

Leon remembered. This was the man who had almost collided with him while driving Isabella's Porsche. So, it was him racing against Ethan earlier.

"Zhang Jun, you know him?" Ethan Li asked.

"It was a misunderstanding," Zhang Jun laughed.

"Haha, we're all brothers. No need for formalities," Ethan Li laughed.

Leon shrugged indifferently.

Zhang Jun didn't hide anything. Recounting the near-collision, he still felt some lingering fear. That young man had been quite reckless.

As racing cars roared by on the mountain road, the crowd's cheers grew louder. In contrast, the small group's shock was even more palpable.

Angelina gaped at Leon, as if looking at a monster. "You tried to crash a Porsche into a Hummer?"

"Didn't it not crash?" Leon looked at Zhang Jun, confirming his suspicion that the man had indeed tried to ram them.

Zhang Jun laughed awkwardly, "If I had known you were Brother Ethan's friend, I wouldn't have dared to be so blind."

"Since it was a misunderstanding, let's just let it go for my sake," Ethan Li said, quickly regaining his composure.

Leon nodded. He had almost forgotten the incident until now. Thinking back, he remembered his conversation with Isabella's father, which seemed odd. The Xiang family hadn't made any moves since then, leaving Leon wondering about their plans.

"Since we're at the Dark Sand Racetrack, it would be a shame not to race," Ethan Li smiled.

Leon sighed, seeing this coming. "I don't know how to race."

The others laughed. Who would believe a man daring enough to ram a Porsche into a Hummer couldn't race?

Leon frowned. He really didn't know how to race.

"Leon, want to give it a try?" Angelina coaxed, holding his arm.

"We'll keep it interesting by betting our cars," Ethan Li eyed Angelina's Dodge Viper.

"Hmph, I knew you were eyeing my Viper," Angelina snorted.

Leon's eyes lit up, noticing the pendant in the Lamborghini.

"But I've never raced before," Leon hesitated.

"Are you a man or not? Anyway, if you lose, you'll be losing my car!" Angelina mocked.

"You said it," Leon grinned. If this went well, he could achieve multiple goals at once.

"But I have one condition," Leon said.

"What condition?" The others stared at him.

"Who's going to teach me how to race?" Leon scratched his head, embarrassed.

"Are you serious?" Angelina looked at Leon fumbling with the driver's seat, feeling like she wanted to strangle him.

"I can drive, but I've never raced," Leon admitted.

Angelina recalled his earlier innocent request and nearly kicked him. "This Viper has been meticulously modified. If you don't impress me, you're dead meat!"

As Leon familiarized himself with the car, he listened to Angelina's racing tips and insights.

"Well, did you get it?" Angelina asked nervously.

"Completely master it," Leon grinned, gripping the steering wheel. In that moment, his eyes sparkled with a clarity and confidence that startled Angelina.

"You're putting on a show, you jerk. Fine, as long as you get to know Ethan Li, it'll benefit Lily. I don't expect you to win anyway," Angelina pouted. "His rapid S-turn drifting is unmatched."

Leon smiled faintly, turning the wheel. The Dodge Viper performed a drift through the S-turn identical to Ethan Li's earlier move, leaving Angelina gaping.

"How did you do that?" she nearly screamed.

Leon broke into a cold sweat. This ability was quite something!
