CHAPTER THREE

Josh walked into the office his eyes meet Jaycee's first then us 'hi' he started

'we want to know what happened the day Ashley went missing' he looked to Jaycee probably searching her face for answer, I continued 'look you are not in trouble, I just want to know what happened that day so we can find out what happened to her'

'Well Jaycee and Ashley picked me up and drove me to school, that was the last time I saw her' he answered

'Well what happened during the drive, in the car?'

'What do you mean?' he asked

'Was there an argument or an off vibe of any sort' I asked

'Oh yeah, definitely, when I got into the car they were arguing about something, someone in particular' he paused for effect, looking at Jaycee.

Suddenly she burst into tears 'I am sorry….i am so sorry… i didn't want to get in trouble that's why I didn't mention it earlier…I am contesting for student president and I really do not want anything to hinder my chances….it's not serious I swear, I found out that Ashley had been messaging my boyfriend and I confronted her about it and that is what lead to the argument, the tears stopped and she continued ' I don't know if anyone told you already but Ashley was a bitch , we were only friends because we grew up together and have gotten used to each other and she was always nice to me until she started messaging my boyfriend and flirting with him, I miss her and I am sorry about what happened to her, but I don't know what happened and that's why we didn't go home together that day because I was still upset about what happened in the morning'

'I mean…common Jaycee, your friend just died and because of a student election you are withholding information from the police?' I asked

'I didn't think it would be important' she answered, she seemed genuinely sober

'I mean…' I started, Daniel for some reason cut me short saying 'Look Jaycee I know you were probably scared and but you shouldn't without information from the police no matter the situation, we are just here to help. I think we have gotten enough information here, so we should leave we would contact you if we need anything else' he finished

We walked out of the office with me giving Daniel a stern look 'I can feel your eyes burning through the back of my head' he said 'I know what you are about to say and before you say anything, that girl was obviously scared and shaken up and we are not going to get any reliable information from her in that state'

'Well first of, this is my case, my case! You don't get to just dismiss my witnesses without me saying so, you just got on this case today and somehow you think you know about what kind of information I would get'

'I apologize for making it seem like I'm undermining your authority but I was a psychology major and trust me when i say that we wouldn't get anything tangible from her, look I really think we need to get to know each other better to make this partnership work, because if you knew me better then you would know I meant no harm earlier'

'Well I do not like mixing business with pleasure'

'Neither do I, look I want you to take me to the nicest bar in this town for my welcome celebration, you know you still haven't shown me around' he said with a grin on his face.

'Ok fine, I will send you the details, let's meet by 5 cos i go to bed pretty early'.

'I will be there'.
