Hiring Mia

Claire was shocked and uncomfortable, but she forced a smile to hide it. "Wow, Mia, what a shock. Why are you here?"

Mia's smile got bigger, and her eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief. "Joshua asked me to come. He thought I might be a good fit for this job.

Claire's smile broke. "Did Joshua call you?" "Why?"

Mia gave a casual shrug. "It's a personal thing between Joshua and me. You know how it is."

Claire's anger grew. "If it concerns the company, I'd like to know the details."

Mia waved her hand dismissively. "Nothing for you to worry about, Claire."

Claire's hands clenched at her sides as she fought to keep her composure. "This is my office, Mia. I need to know what's going on."

Ignoring Claire, Mia turned to Joshua's helper, who was passing by. "Can I see Joshua now?"

The assistant nodded. "Of course, Miss Mia. Right this way."

Claire's eyes widened in shock. "What? She's not even on the plan!"
