Trying to Humiliate Her

Mia quietly took out a small vial from her bag and added its contents to a glass of wine on the tray. "Take this glass to the girl standing over there," she directed, pointing toward Claire. "Make sure she gets it."

The waiter paused, looking between Mia and the glass. "Is it safe?"

Mia's smile turned icy. "Just do as I say. It'll be worth your while."

Reluctantly, the waiter nodded and walked toward Claire, balancing the tray with practiced ease. Mia watched him go, a victorious smirk on her face.

Back at the chat, Daniel was just finishing a story about his grandfather's early business efforts. Claire listened carefully, truly interested in learning more about the family behind the evening's event.

The waiter approached, holding the tray out to Claire. "A drink, miss?" he offered.

Claire looked at the waiter and then at the tray, pausing for a moment. Before she could reach for the glass, Daniel stepped in.
