Don't thank me

Adriana waved a hand dismissively. "Don't thank me yet, Claire. This is just the beginning, and it's going to get messy before it gets better."

Claire swallowed hard, feeling the weight of Adriana's words sink in. She knew this was true—taking down someone like Mia wouldn't be easy. Mia was cunning, ruthless, and had connections that Claire could only guess at. But Claire also knew that she couldn't back down now. Joshua's life, and possibly hers, depended on what they did next.

"We'll start by going over the photographs again," Adriana continued, rising from her chair and moving to a filing cabinet in the corner of the room. She pulled out a folder and handed it to Claire. "These are copies I had made. I've already had a preliminary analysis done on them, and there are definitely inconsistencies. But we need to dig deeper."
