"The Elemental Ring definitely has some significance!"
Allen immediately became excited and opened the Witcher's Journal with a thought. The black hole on the monster encyclopedia page, which seemed to have been scorched by flames, began to spin rapidly. The sparks on the edge formed a red ring of light.
[Celestial Conjunction—Drowner, Cooldown Time: 29 days 10 hours 47 minutes (charging…)]
As the black hole spun, the cooldown time for the celestial conjunction quickly decreased.
"Buzz~"
Allen followed the sound. The Wolf School medallion on the altar was buzzing as if it would jump off the platform at any moment. Luckily, Allen had placed the medallion in the center of the altar. Given its current level of vibration, it would take at least half an hour for it to shake off the altar, by which time the activation would be complete.
However, Allen wondered, "Did Hughes and the others experience such intense activation when they activated their medallions?" This question lingered in Allen's mind. Unfortunately, he could only find out by asking Hughes and the others later.
After a while, the vibrations of the medallion and the spinning of the black hole in the monster encyclopedia stopped almost simultaneously.
"Huh?"
"Is the activation complete, or is there no more magic around?"
Allen felt uncertain. Witchers cannot clearly sense the magic in their environment, which is why they need the assistance of the school medallion. Unable to feel the magic concentration around him, Allen did not touch the medallion on the altar. Instead, he extinguished the four torches with snow and then relit them in the correct order. Then he waited.
Five minutes passed. Without that strange wind, there was no movement from the black hole in the Witcher's Journal or the school medallion. Allen's face grew grim. Another five minutes passed.
"Damn it, did the Witcher's Journal absorb all the magic here?" Allen's face darkened as he opened the Witcher's Journal.
[Celestial Conjunction—Drowner, Cooldown Time: 14 days 10 hours 34 minutes (charging…)]
"The cooldown time has been reduced by fifteen days."
Allen's face brightened slightly as he thought about it, but when he looked at the school medallion, his mood dropped again.
"If the Witcher's Journal has drained all the magic here, how am I supposed to activate the medallion?"
He was convinced that the medallion had not fully activated due to a lack of magic. Otherwise, it wouldn't coincide with the cooldown time of the celestial conjunction. Just as he was feeling regretful, something unexpected happened.
As soon as he touched the medallion, a strange feeling surged in his heart.
"It feels… familiar…"
He muttered, searching his memory for the familiar yet strange feeling. Right! It was the Mirage Pearl! This feeling was identical to when the Mirage Pearl was activated. Allen couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement but also a bit of apprehension as he used identification on the medallion in his hand.
[Name: Unnamed]
[Type: Magical Sprite]
[Function: Consumes a small amount of stamina to detect abnormal fluctuations]
[Note: This is your child]
"Does 'unnamed' mean I need to name it?" Allen was puzzled. What does this mean? Although the first item in the identification information is labeled 'name', it usually represents a category or species name unless identifying a human target. For instance, Allen could call the Mirage Pearl by any name, but any Mirage Pearls he obtained would always be identified as 'Mirage Pearl'.
So, the true meaning of 'unnamed' wasn't as simple as naming it. Considering the note "my child," Allen speculated, "Could it be that this type of magical sprite has never appeared before, so I need to name it?" If so, the magical creature was born from a coincidence. Allen eagerly rubbed the wolf medallion. The energy of the celestial conjunction, plus the magic of the Elemental Ring, and perhaps other forces from the Witcher's Journal, formed this magical spirit. What abilities would it have?
Excited by his analysis, Allen eagerly channeled his magic into the medallion, just like when he activated the Mirage Pearl.
"Buzz~"
As the magic flowed in, the wolf medallion buzzed again. It continued until Allen had infused nearly all his magic, then it stopped vibrating.
"Huh?"
He seemed to sense something and instinctively closed his eyes. The world before him darkened, but his mind's eye opened up. Allen saw magic. Countless points of light seeped from the void. No! Unlike when casting the Ice Spear spell, these green, blue, red, and yellow points of light didn't converge from all directions. They emerged from a point in front of him, likely the center of the altar.
"In the game, all magic sources were said to be former points of intersection during the celestial conjunction."
"Could this magic-producing point be a similar connection point?"
Seeing the truth of the world so clearly made Allen's heart race with excitement. He instinctively opened his eyes. The magical light points became faint but were still visible, emerging from a point in the center of the altar as if an invisible hole there was leaking magical water.
Allen stepped forward and lightly brushed his hand over the point but felt nothing. Nevertheless, Allen wasn't discouraged. Today's gains were already so bountiful that even he found them hard to believe.
Originally, the school medallion only warned when magical creatures or objects approached, without indicating direction or visibility. But this new magical vision might be something even true sorcerers didn't possess.
"What a treasure!" Allen couldn't help but exclaim. As soon as he spoke, he felt a slight tremor in his chest. In his mind, a previously faint link suddenly became prominent, pushing the connection to the school medallion aside. Seeing this, Allen's expression became strange. This link was to the Mirage Pearl. Was she jealous of the praise Allen gave the newcomer? Before this, only the little Foglet had prompted such a reaction from the Mirage Pearl. Usually, she behaved like a regular tool, waiting for Allen to use her.
"Alright, alright, you're a treasure too!" Allen praised the Mirage Pearl and gently stroked it. The mental link weakened again. After putting the Mirage Pearl away, he looked at the school medallion and sent a mental command based on the new information he received. The next moment, a wave of indistinct joy came through, and the identification information changed.
[Name: Wolf Medallion]
[Type: Magical Spirit]
[Function: Consumes a small amount of stamina to detect abnormal fluctuations]
[Note: Do you think it can only see magic?]
Huh? How can the notes be changed?
