The journey to remember

"Why is everyone so sad. Kokui is not dead. She just went out of the country and I think you all should be happy with that." Daisy tried to cheer us up which I knew won't work. We all miss her already. Then an idea popped up. I went through my gallery to bring out pictures of our trip just last week. It was as if the heavens knew we will suddenly separate so God brought this trip our way.

It was one rainy day. We were all just stuck indoors so Kokui offered her phone to us to use to kill time. We were just scrolling through all her apps. We even planned on viewing all her texts with her friends especially the males to see what was going on. Whiles we were on it, we saw a tiktok notification. I told them to ignore it but Akoma who never agreed with me on any topic decided to do the opposite. I had no problem but I was afraid we would get distracted. True to my words, the first video we saw was a girl trip. Hmmm, that was where our inspiration stemmed from.

After rounds of discussion, we decided to settle for a trip here in Kumasi.

Konfo Anokye Teaching hospital

"Girls,as you have heard, the sword that was turned upside-down and buried into the ground by the great Konfo Anokye is right here",our supervisor pointed to the sword. It is said that for centuries,no one has been able to remove this sword even when they excavated all the sand round it. For the later part, I actually don't know whether it's true but I believe its possible.

"Why don't we try praying over it. With faith we can uproot it", Akoma said as she moved to have a closer look at it. Can you believe she had lived all her life in Kumasi without being here. I don't think she has been anywhere apart from her home, church and school. "For how long has it been in there" I heard Daisy ask the supervisor. "As long as your mind can think, over centuries ", our supervisor replied. She was began to dust off the dirt on her jeans. She was a young lady with afro hair in pink lace blouse 👚 and faded blue jeans. She continued," As you all know, it is believed that Anokye, the priest, performed numerous miracles. He commanded the golden stool from the sky. Do you also know he planted a plant upside-down which grew and produced with some few days. Do you know the thrilling part of it all?"she asked us all, looking from a person to another. "The plant is still alive",Kokui guessed to her surprise 😲. "Smart girl,"She praised, "indeed, the plant is still alive and the people around have been benefiting from its shades and fruit. " Frankly speaking, I had no idea that plant was still alive. " Ma'am, like you confirmed, the plant is still alive. Does that mean the root is still in mid-air?" I was just curious. " I think you can make a trip there to see for yourself " The session was brought to a close.

"Girls, it's almost 1. Let's all quickened up, we still have the lake to visit",Daisy reminded us." Looks like someone is in a hurry to return back." I teased. "Oh no!"saying this, Daisy pulled me along," I'm not the impatient one. Just take a look at Akoma. She is already missing our brother-in-law " We all burst into laughter.

After there, we went to Ejisu,a place right here in Kumasi. That's where lake bosumtwi is located. We paid the Palace a visit before heading to the lake

There, the chief's linguist who showed us around. You know you can never visit a palace without getting a brief history here and there.

"Finally, the long awaited moment!" Daisy exclaimed. We have all been waiting for this moment, the almighty famous scared lake. "It's so big and vast" I noted. The evergreen vegetation around the lake was just adding to the view. We went hiking, boat riding, fishing and even drunk some coconut 🥥.

"Girls, their lake here as you all know is the famous crater lake- bosumtwi." That was our guardsman. Yeah, we had a different tour guard. "For your info. This is a scared lake. Hope you don't mind a brief before we start the fun?"he asked as he led us away from the lake to some cool area. I didn't want some boring 💤 brief again but the man is hot especially in that outfit. I'm not drooling 🤤. So let's just listen since he is good looking. "There is this story. Once upon a time", he continued " a man or farmer was chasing an antelope in this very forest to kill. The antelope run and fell at that area over there." He pointed to the lake." And low and behold, this lake came to being. So he thanked the gods since he was saved from death as he believed the antelope was a god. From that day, he made his mind to make here his home. He also named the lake. That is where the belief that the lake is a spiritual portal to the afterlife came by."

"Is the speech finally over because I can't wait to cruise on this lake." I actually meant it." Yh, our youngest lady. I'm done. Now girls..." but he was interrupted by our chorus answer. "We are big girls not just girls!" We exclaimed. "Waittt... I get it big girls. I'm so sorry ok. In fact, my ladies, let's go." He beckoned us follow.

He sat on the wood plank. We all thought he will fall but then we saw that the others before us were also riding on similar planks." Ohh, you mean we will have to ride on that plank. I'm not doing that, no, never." Akoma made it very clear. She was even running 🏃 away. I just got the urge to pull here back and that's what I did. I wrapped my arms tightly around, more like I wanted to cage her. On our boat cruising or better put wooden plank cruising, Akoma nearly fell in the lake. She was totally freaking out. I had never seen anyone this scared before. She was all clinging to me, I was even scared the plank might capsize.

We also went birding. Seems like some people need therapy. Daisy just didn't like animals around her so she was avoiding almost all the animals. I was just waiting keenly for just a bird 🐦 to settle on my hand but looks like they all wanted to make fun of me. " Looks like all birds love Kokui" I commented. "Yh, I don't know but everyone can't help it but to love me even birds." Then she gave that her signature laughter, a hand to slightly cover her lips, so contagious. We all burst into laughter.

Then we went hiking. Later went to rest at Coco village hotel, a four star hotel in Ghana 🇬🇭. I just get proud whenever I use something made in my country's name. Their service is 10k, mwuahhh. So on point. They gave us some massage 💆, like full body massage. The drink served were chilled and sweet. Not to forget their assorted rice and beef sauce, ohh I was in heaven. You don't wanna miss the fun and be left out. I even wanted us to stay for the night but unfortunately that didn't happen.
