A Wedding In Three Days

The room was dark except for the faint glow of the streetlights filtering through the curtains. I lay in my bed staring at the ceiling. My mind kept replaying everything from earlier, Don’s agreement, our parents’ insistence, his grandmother’s final say. It was decided. It felt so unreal. It was like a bad dream I was waiting to wake up from. But no, this was my life now.

I was getting married.

To Don.

In three days.

A bitter laugh bubbled in my throat, but I swallowed it down. This wasn’t how I planned my life. Not even close. I was supposed to find love, settle down when I was ready, build a family on my own terms. I was supposed to marry the man I love. I thought of Ray but I knew I couldn't let my thoughts go there. I was here now, trapped in a situation that left me with no choices.
