You May Now Kiss the Bride

I couldn't believe what I just heard.

No way

"You may now kiss the bride"

It echoed in my head again.

Suddenly every eye in the room was watching us. Expecting.

I nervously looked at Don. His eyes locked to mine. I tried communicating with my eyes. Telling him not to do it but if he understood me, he didn't show it.

He took a step closer to me and my body suddenly stiffened. He wasn’t stopping at all.

He lifted his hands gently, resting it against my waist then he leaned in and got closer.

And closer.

I felt my heart slam hard against my chest.

Closer.

I could feel his heat now and the weight of the moment pressed down on me.

And just as his lips nearly met mine, I quickly turned my face away.

I couldn't do it.

Then silence.

Silence was all that was heard
