As the sun sets, the forest is filled with golden afterglow, adding a touch of warmth and peace to this ancient and mysterious land.
Dr. Ebert stood up, patted the dust off his body, and put the statue back into his pocket. He looked at the winding stream in front of him, his heart full of hope and expectation.
He knew that the road ahead was full of unknowns and challenges, but he was ready. Because he knew that he was no longer alone.
The ancient statue, the mysterious old man, and the fragments of memory that flooded into his mind all told him that he was not alone in this time and space. Perhaps he could find his way home, perhaps he could solve the mysteries that had troubled him for many years, perhaps he could find the power to transcend war and hatred and create a better future for mankind.
With this hope and determination, Dr. Ebert took a step and continued to walk along the stream.
The gurgling stream is like a gentle girl, singing an ancient ballad softly, guiding Dr. Ebert in the direction of progress. The clear stream reflects the sunset in the sky, sparkling and beautiful. Occasionally, a few silver fish jump out of the water, draw a graceful arc in the air, and then dive into the water and disappear.
The trees on both sides are towering into the clouds, with lush branches and leaves, covering the sky and the sun, leaving only mottled light and shadow, interweaving on the ground into a fantastic light and shadow picture. Some of those trees are tall and straight, like giant pillars, straight into the sky; some are lush, like huge green umbrellas, covering the world; and some have thick trunks and mottled bark, like old people who have experienced vicissitudes of life, standing quietly in the long river of time.
Various exotic flowers and plants compete for beauty, exuding a refreshing fragrance, attracting various beautiful butterflies and bees, dancing among the flowers. Some of those flowers are delicate and beautiful, like a girl's smile; some are fresh and elegant, like a fairy's colorful clothes; others are peculiar in shape and colorful, like elves from another world, full of mystery and temptation.
While enjoying the picturesque scenery, Dr. Ebert thought about his current situation. He knew that he was now in a strange time and space, a time and space that was completely different from the modern world he was familiar with. He didn't know how he could return to his own world, but he knew that he couldn't just sit there and wait for death. He had to cheer up, explore this unknown world, find a way home, and find the answer that might not exist.
"Maybe I can find some traces of human activities, maybe I can find some clues about this world." Dr. Ebert thought to himself.
He quickened his pace and walked along the stream.
After walking for an unknown period of time, the sun had completely set and the forest gradually darkened. The surrounding trees, shrouded in the night, looked taller and more mysterious, like silent giants guarding this ancient land.
Dr. Ebert felt a little tired, so he found a flat stone and sat down to rest. He took out a water bottle from his pocket, drank a few sips of water, then took out a notebook and pencil and began to record what he saw and heard along the way.
He wanted to record all of this, and when he returned to his own world, he would make these precious materials public so that people would understand the glorious civilization that once existed, and the lessons of that civilization's eventual destruction.
"Perhaps, this is the meaning of my coming here." Dr. Ebert thought to himself, "I want to record all of this so that people can learn from it and avoid repeating the same mistakes."
Just then, Dr. Ebert suddenly heard a faint sound coming from a distance.
That sound, like a human shout, and like the wailing of some animal, was particularly clear in the silent forest.
Dr. Ebert's heart moved, could it be that someone was nearby?
He immediately stood up and walked towards the direction where the sound came from.
