Experimentation

Chapter 87 Experimentation

Aleshia eagerly embraced the idea and quickly started trying to understand the magic surrounding her. As she focused on the magic, she could see all the intricate details and noticed that the magic Lucia was producing bore a resemblance to the runes and sigils intentionally placed on the exterior of the ruins. She also felt a minor sense of familiarity with the educational experience she was having because it reminded her of learning magic to become an instructor when she was a child.

While Aleshia was reminiscing, she was also gaining an understanding of the vague complexities of the conjurings that Lucia was constructing. As she only understood the elemental aspects of magic, she began experimenting with it to deepen her understanding. Aleshia took her first steps into nature magic by manipulating a speck of magic around herself and cautiously experimenting with it. She gently guided the luminescent speck from one finger to the other. After a few repetitions, she felt confident enough to move on to the next step. With newfound confidence, she manipulated a large cluster of Lucia's excess conjuration and merged the two specks.

Just as they were about to merge, Aleshia had a feeling that something dangerous would happen if the two merged together. She instantly and hurriedly threw them in a random direction. A moment later, possibly due to the erratic movement caused by being flung, the particles within the luminance exploded into one another, creating an implosion larger than a human. Oddly enough, there was no sound at all. Aleshia was puzzled by what had happened, as something as volatile as that should have caused some damage to the environment.

Aleshia found it oddly comforting that the implosion did not cause any damage to the environment, as it meant her safety was assured while experimenting. Aleshia carefully plucked another speck of conjuration. This one was a little bigger than the previous one. Despite its slightly increased size, Aleshia struggled to control and maintain the orb's shape. After a while, she was able to handle the orb smoothly. Feeling satisfied with her progress, she tried experimenting with the orb by infusing it with various elemental magics.

After she was satisfied with the result of the experiment, she decided to add another slightly larger conjuration. She brought a stray conjuration near her now-element-infused orb. When it made contact with the orb, it was smoothly absorbed without any problems. "Adding another element into the orb seemed to do the trick," Aleshia noted. The orb no longer felt volatile and fragile to Aleshia anymore.
