Cross It, You’re Dead!

VALERIC walked out of the bathroom, clad in his nightwear, his hair a bit wet, and his half-mask hanging on his face. He'd come to a stop at the loud, stomping steps toward the room, getting louder and louder.

He waited and waited, almost as if he were sure who it was, and as soon as the door was opened, Stella came into view. Her face was too red, her hands fisted, and she was staring at him as if she could snap his head off. Well, if only it was possible.

"Do you want to kill me?" he asked. Because that was how she looked at that moment.

"Oh, I so would if I could," she seethed and tramped over to him. "Did you ask Maurene to keep the cat downstairs and in the house in the garden?"

"Yes." Valeric gave a nod.

"Why?"

"It can't be in this room. I don't like it."

"Then why did you get me a cat?" Her face screamed disbelief.

"Because you like it."
