Chapter forty five

The rest of the group quickly organized a rescue, bringing ropes and blankets. As they descended the hill, they found Marcus sheltering Alina in the cave, both soaked and shivering.

"Over here!" Marcus called out, his voice hoarse from shouting. "I found her!"

The teachers and students hurried over, helping to carry Alina back to the camp.

They rushed her to the largest tent at the edge of the camp, designated as the makeshift infirmary. Inside, the tent was dimly lit by lanterns hanging from the support beams. A cot was hastily cleared, and Alina was gently laid down. The camp medic, an older woman with graying hair tied back in a tight bun, quickly set to work.

"Bring me the first aid kit," she barked, her voice commanding but calm. Lizzy scrambled to a nearby table cluttered with medical supplies and handed over the kit. The medic's hands moved with practiced precision, cleaning and bandaging Alina's wound.
