For a long moment, no one moved.

Then, one Elder finally stepped forward. "Don't get too proud, girl," Drake sneered.

"This is exactly what happened to your father. He got too arrogant, too full of himself. Thought he was above the Elders. And look where that got him." He smirked. Exiled."

Alina's expression darkened.

Drake crossed his arms. "You think you're powerful? More powerful than us? You're not. And when we unite—"

"Shut the hell up, Drake."

Everyone turned as Elder Luke stepped forward, his voice booming.

"You don't get it, do you?" Luke spat. "She's not her father. And you? You and your little band of backstabbing cowards defied the council, kidnapped a young woman, tried to steal her power—and you really think we're gonna sit back and let that slide?"
