Chapter 7: He’s Mine

Leng Huangnu turned to Huang Longtian, her eyes filled with a mischievous light. "Hehe, Brother Longtian, please."

Huang Longtian stepped forward, feeling the crowd's eyes full of skepticism and doubt.

His expression calm and focused, drawing the Spiritual Qi of Heaven and Earth. His fingers moved rapidly, drawing symbols in the air.

The onlookers watched with widened eyes as the symbols began to glow. Huang Longtian wrote one word: "Fire"

Fzzztt!

The word "Fire" that he wrote transformed into a red fire that hovered in the air, as it burned fiercely in the air.

Gasp!

The spectators gasped, their eyes widening in shock. Never in their lives had they imagined that a mortal could be a Spell Master.

The sight of the burning word left them speechless.

Even the Elder Zhong's eyes widened in surprise. This brat was really a Spell Master!

The demonstration of the Fire Spell had left no room for doubt.

"This... this is incredible!" someone in the crowd exclaimed, their voice filled with awe and disbelief.

"How can a mortal possibly be a Spell Master?!" another voice cried out, feeling incredulous.

"Tsk, the Heavens must be blind to let this happen!" a third person muttered, shaking his head in frustration. He wished he were Huang Longtian—it should have been me!

Elder Zhong regained his composure swiftly. Despite his initial shock, his many years of experience allowed him to quickly steady himself. His expression now one of respect. "It seems I was mistaken. Master Huang, your abilities are indeed extraordinary. If you agree, I could exempt you from the test and allow you to join the sect directly."

Elder Zhong was sincere, even though he doubted him in the beginning. What mattered now was that a Spell Master was joining the sect!

He quickly realized the significance of the situation. A Spell Master joining the sect was a matter of utmost importance.

Although he wasn't sure if the sect had any spells to aid Huang Longtian's cultivation, just having a Spell Master among their disciples would bring prestige to the sect and attract those seeking his services, much like Pavilion Master Chu Yuechan of the Alchemy Pavilion.

Without hesitation, Elder Zhong grabbed a a white paper inscribed with multiple strange symbols. He activated the talisman, and it soared into the sky, glowing brightly.

The crowd's murmurs of astonishment were interrupted by a cultivator's whispered comment.

"Look at that light!" whispered one cultivator wearing black robes. "What does it mean?"

"It must be a Spiritual Transmission Talisman," another cultivator replied, "It sends messages over long distances, allowing instant communication."

As the talisman disappeared into the sky, Leng Huangnu's eyes sparkled with a bright, almost blinding intensity.

"Congratulations, Brother Longtian! Did you see the looks on their faces? Their eyes were practically popping out of their sockets! Hehehe, it was incredible!"

She looks more cheerful now, a stark contrast to her previous cold and aloof attitude. Could this be her true personality? Huang Longtian couldn't help but smile. "It wasn't anything special," he said calmly. After all, he knew of better ones.

His response earned eyes rolls from the crowd who thought he was being pretentious. If you're talented, admit it; why be so pretentious?

If Huang Longtian knew what the crowd was thinking, he would just shake his head helplessly.

As Elder Zhong pondered the implications of a Spell Master joining the sect, the air suddenly whistled.

Several figures appeared out of nowhere, hovering in mid-air.

The Great Elder, the Punishment Pavilion's Pavilion Master, and other higher-ups from the High Heaven Thundercloud Sect had arrived.

The crowd was surprised but not Elder Zhong; he understood the value and attraction of a Spell Master, so did the others.

But what happened next left him and the spectators speechless.

"Hm… Are these really elders?" someone in the crowd wondered aloud, his voice tinged with disbelief. "I've never seen such a display…. of childishness…"

The higher-ups started arguing like a bunch of children, each wanting to accept Huang Longtian as their disciple.

"He's joining my faction!" the Great Elder, Duan Peizhi, declared, his voice booming. He's a rare talent, and I need him to solidify my position.

"Absolutely not, he belongs in the Punishment Pavilion. We need his skills the most!" argued the Punishment Pavilion's Pavilion Master, Xiang Yongzheng. His abilities will serve best here, and I can't let them be wasted elsewhere.

"You're both wrong. The Alchemy Pavilion would benefit the most from his abilities!" another elder chimed in.

He was the Vice-Pavilion Master of the Alchemy Pavilion, Yuan Gen. If I secure this boy for our pavilion, it'll make her owe me favor….

The trio looked at each other with hostility.

They knew that they had to recruit Huang Longtian as quickly as possible before the other old fossils, who were in seclusion, could intervene and maximise their profits.

They were keenly aware of each other's thoughts, which only intensified their fight.

Neither wanted to give the other the upper hand.

Amid the chaos, one of them turned to Huang Longtian and asked, "So, which of us will you choose to be your master? The strongest one, of course?"

Huang Longtian stood there, speechless and unsure how to respond. But, he already had someone in mind to choose as his master when he arrived here... Only her came to his mind…

However, they didn't wait for Huang Longtian's decision…

Heaven's Thunderstrike!

Duan Peizhi unleashed a series of fast strikes, his aura surging with raw power as bolts of lightning shot forth from his hands.

Boom!

His attacks were aimed to stun rather than kill, but their sheer force shook the ground and sent tremors through the air.

Heavenly Gods Wrath!

Xiang Yongzheng replied with a massive wave of dark lightning that surged towards Duan Peizhi.

His attacks were more chaotic.

Bang!

The two attacks collided in mid-air with a thunderous explosion of lightning and sound, creating a massive shockwave.

The impact sent some cultivators reeling, with a few spitting blood, others fainting, and even some wetting their pants in terror.

Thunder and Lightning Spear!

Meanwhile, Yuan Gen, not to be outdone, focused on launching a barrage of lightning spears.

Swoosh!

His strategy was to attack from distance, not wanting to be too much physical as alchemist.

Elder Zhong, standing at the periphery, worked tirelessly to shield the crowd. He stood there, his cheeks slightly red. His status was lower than the others. So, he couldn't intervene in their fight.

Just as their fight reached a peak, the sky was lit by a new spectacle. As a breathtakingly beautiful figure appeared, with flowing blue hair, white robes, and a light blue veil that barely concealed her striking features. Her blue, phoenix eyes and jade skin were so captivating that even the veil couldn't hide her allure.

The crowd fell silent, mesmerized by her ethereal presence. Even the arguing elders paused, their bodies trembling as their conflict was forgotten in the face of her sudden appearance. Leng Huangnu's slender body trembled slightly as she recognized the newcomer. This… could be her…

The woman's voice was calm and authoritative as she spoke. "He's mine"
