"It's strange, why is it damaged? I've never encountered this before." Trinity thought her phone might be malfunctioning, so she restarted it.
Still no luck.
As she tried to troubleshoot, Lisa scrutinized her with an investigative gaze. When Trinity looked up and spoke to her, Lisa quickly averted her eyes.
Trinity: "What should we do?"
Lisa replied, "Let's head back to the office first. We'll have our tech team fix it. Shouldn't be too difficult."
"Okay."
Trinity followed Lisa back to the office. On the third floor, Lisa first took detailed notes from Trinity, which alone took nearly an hour. After completing the notes, Lisa handed over the recorded contents along with a printed confidentiality agreement for Trinity to sign.
Trinity was more accustomed to electronic signatures. To her, having to sign something with paper and pen felt traditional and formal.
She scratched her head and chuckled, "Is it that serious?"
"Not really, just procedure. Trinity, by signing this confidentiality agreement, you agree not to disclose today's conversation with anyone else. Otherwise, there could be legal consequences."
"Oh, okay, got it." Trinity nodded quickly.
"Trinity, your involvement in the investigation ends here. Thank you for your cooperation."
"No problem at all."
"The video data you submitted is still being repaired. Also, Lambert cannot accompany you back for now. We need to conduct a comprehensive system check on him, and it's hard to say how long that will take. Do you have plans for today?"
"No, I'm off duty today."
"In that case... would you mind waiting downstairs for a while?"
"Sure."
Trinity bid farewell to Lisa and descended from the third floor, where she happened to meet Sophie. Sophie asked, "Trinity, what's wrong?"
"It's about my new robot. It's having some issues."
Trinity felt a bit frustrated. Most people buy robots to relax, but it seems like hers was bringing endless trouble.
Sophie asked again, "What's wrong with Lambert?"
"I can't say."
"Huh? Did you sign a confidentiality agreement too?" Sophie was surprised. Seeing Trinity remain silent, she quickly nodded and said, "Forget it, I understand... If you've signed confidentiality agreements, it seems like this issue is quite serious!"
"Let's not talk about it. It's exhausting."
"Don't worry, everything will be fine," Sophie reassured, taking Trinity's hand and urging her to sit down. "The engineering department should be able to resolve it quickly. I've sold so many robots, and there's never been one we couldn't fix. If they can't fix it, you can return it and get a full refund. You just received it today, right?"
"Yeah, okay."
"Would you like to sit here and watch TV for a while?"
"Sure, Sophie, you go ahead with your work. Don't mind me."
Sophie brought a pile of snacks for Trinity. Trinity tore open a bag of popcorn, munching away, and then grabbed the remote control, switching to a familiar channel where a variety show was playing.
Originally, she had planned to watch this show at home with her warm-hearted boy...
Since Sophie had nothing urgent to do, she sat beside Trinity, watching together.
The variety show was amusing, and they both laughed heartily. Suddenly, the TV screen flickered, and the guests disappeared, replaced by a female reporter holding a microphone.
Sophie reacted quickly, "It's breaking news."
Midway through the program, breaking news is usually about significant events. Trinity was curious, watching attentively, forgetting even to eat her popcorn.
The female reporter on TV said, "According to our latest information, the prominent second-generation rich kid, Jake, has just been taken in by the police for questioning. It is alleged that Jake is involved in illegal underground research activities. There are various speculations about Jake's research projects. Due to the activation of a self-destruct program in the related underground research facility this morning, all research data has been completely destroyed, so it is currently unclear what illegal research Jake was engaged in. According to sources, a homicide occurred in the research facility this morning, resulting in the unfortunate death of a researcher. It is still unknown whether Jake is connected to this murder..."
Sophie shook her head disapprovingly, "Illegal research again."
Trinity wondered, "Why are there so many underground research activities these days?"
"People with nothing better to do and too much on their plates, I guess. If they were like us, with proper jobs, busy to the brink every day, they wouldn't have time for such nonsense."
"Exactly."
On the television, the next scenes were all about Jake being taken away by the police. Jake, the son of the wealthiest man in town, was rich and talented, often making headlines just by having dinner with celebrities. With such a major event now, many reporters rushed to the scene, causing chaos. The police and Jake struggled to walk through the crowd, taking a long time to reach the police car.
When the car door opened, Jake bowed his head and stepped into the police car. Suddenly, he turned his body and looked at the camera lens.
The television screen displayed his enlarged face in high definition, clear and unfiltered. To be honest, Jake was quite handsome, but at this moment, his face was grim, eyes flashing coldly, as if he could pull out a knife and attack at any moment, giving off a somewhat frightening aura.
Facing the camera, he said, "I will find you."
"What a creep," Trinity commented casually, munching on popcorn.
As the news segment ended, Trinity was about to continue watching her variety show when Sophie suddenly nudged her arm and whispered, "Trinity..."
"Hmm?" Trinity turned her head, following Sophie's gaze. She noticed several people entering the shop.
They didn't look like they were here to buy robots.
All of them were dressed in suits, and the leader appeared to be in his early thirties, exuding a strong presence. He looked somewhat familiar. Following behind him was someone clean-cut and scholarly, wearing glasses.
Trinity whispered to Sophie, "I like the one wearing glasses."
"Trinity, you..."
"Sophie, why does the person in front look so familiar? And why is everyone bowing to them?"
"Because that's our company's boss, you idiot!"
"Huh?!"
