two days

Karim's POV:

A week had passed, a whirlwind of dates and meetings, moments of bliss and impending dread.

I had taken Kristen to all the places we loved, soaking up every bit of time we had left together.

We spent most of our days wrapped in each other's company, laughing, talking, and making memories. Today was different though, marked by a heavy weight of inevitability.

Earlier in the day, I went to collect my visa. The process was routine, but every stamp and signature felt like a countdown to our separation.

As I drove back home, my thoughts were consumed by the few precious moments we had left.

Tonight, we had planned to cook together. Kristen would read me her book, and I would cook for her, a simple pleasure turned bittersweet by the looming goodbye.

When I arrived, she greeted me with a smile.

We slipped into our roles effortlessly.
