Catherine's POV
After I heard what Lord Joseph stated, my anger had gotten over my head. "Answer me, Guillermo!" I roared. He suddenly hugs me instead.
"Hey, I'm okay. I purposely did this to make him think that he can hurt me easily. I want to crush his ego sooner or later," he says.
My jaw clenched. That bastard! He's testing my patience! I can take all of his hurtful words and bullying toward me, but not the man who threw away his freedom to marry me.
"But you're hurt because of me," I whispered.
My mother-in-law slowly leaves us, wearing a beautiful smile after grabbing the basket of bread in her son's hand.
"Didn't I tell you? I will protect you no matter what happens. I won't let him touch you again. I am ready to be his enemy to make you safe," he says.
I pushed him a bit so that I could see his beautiful face. He looks at me and cups my face. He gives me a quick kiss.
