Lucas jolted awake, feeling the buzz from the alarm. He ran his hand down his face, looking at the alarm clock. It was only 5:30AM. He nudged Adam to wake up, they needed to check why the alarm went off. There had been many false alarms in the past, and he was not going to hurry, but they needed to.
They grabbed their weapons and rallied their fighters as they rushed to the site of the border breach as fast as they could. The tension hung thick in the air as they approached the designated area, their senses heightened for any sign of danger.
But this time, the trespassers were prepared.
As Lucas and Adam and their fighters arrived at the scene, they were met with a hail of gunfire from an unseen enemy. Bullets whizzed through the air, sending clouds of dust and debris flying as they took cover behind nearby trees and rocks.
“Shit, we’re under attack!”, Lucas shouted over the chaos, his voice barely audible over the cacophony of gunfire. “Call for backup, now!”
