Chap. 6 - Trigger [2]

"Which school are you guys from?"

Upon hearing my question, they responded. "W-we're from Kencho High School, so don't mess with us," replied one of them.

I didn't know where that was; the name sounded unfamiliar to me. "Kencho High School?" I asked.

"Yes, Kencho is one of the strongest high schools in Japan. We are members of the Six Demon King," they proudly proclaimed.

Six Demon King. I've never heard that name before.

"Six Demon King, huh? I think I've heard of that," Hayden chimed in as he walked towards us.

"Do you know something?" I asked.

Hayden thought for a moment. "Hmm... They are the six strongest schools in Japan."

This surprised me a bit; I didn't realize there were schools known for being the strongest. That meant my challenges were increasing.

"That's correct," one of them confirmed.

I looked at the person—a woman wearing a parasol to shield herself from the sun.

Out of nowhere, this woman interrupted our conversation.

"Who are you?" I asked her.

She glanced towards the group of teenagers. They looked fearful and immediately bowed their heads.

"I apologize for not introducing myself. My name is Emi Sato, the leader of Kencho High School. Nice to meet you."

She bowed her head, the customary Japanese way of greeting. Seeing her do that, I followed suit. "I'm Tomoe."

Then, she kicked towards my head.

I quickly caught her leg, and she looked surprised. Her pupils dilated as if she couldn't believe what she was seeing.

"What's the big idea?" I said firmly.

Undeterred, she spun her body and kicked towards my head with her back leg. However, I still managed to hold her off, causing her to lose balance and fall.

Unexpectedly, she managed to maintain her balance with her hands as support, then executed a rolling move. Her strength was not to be underestimated, and I was thrown and flung away.

"You're pretty good," she said, sweat dripping from her body, and her breath was heavy.

The Kencho students looked shocked. They truly couldn't believe what they were seeing. "Someone can withstand an attack from one of the Six Demon Kings; this is unbelievable."

"I've never heard of you before. Your name was Tomoe, right?" She smiled. "I'll remember that."

Suddenly, the sun was covered by clouds, darkening our view. It was then that I realized Emi was no longer in front of me. I tried to find her, but my eyes couldn't see her.

There was no sound around me, and I pondered for a moment. What kind of power could silence sound?

Then I remembered we were in Japan, where ninjutsu was a trademark.

I quickly turned around, and sure enough, Emi was behind me. It seemed like she was aiming to strike a vital point in my neck.

Emi looked surprised, and without hesitation, I immediately grabbed her hand, then threw her towards the Kencho students.

Emi fell on top of them, but quickly stood up when the sunlight reappeared. This time, with no shadow, she couldn't do anything.

She looked tired. "I give up. Let's go home, everyone."

Emi walked away with the Kencho students. As she walked, she looked towards me. She smiled briefly before redirecting her gaze.

From my perspective, five people approached her: one woman and four men.

"Boss, are you okay? You look tired," one of them asked Emi.

"What happened to you, boss? Who did this?" another asked.

Then, they looked behind Emi and saw two men—myself and Hayden.

"How dare you!!" she muttered.
