As Strange chanted his magic incantation, layers of red magic circles continuously appeared above him, stacking on top of each other like a delicate pagoda.
All around him, crackling lightning surged, while countless streams of magical energy swirled in chaotic, unpredictable patterns.
It looked like a dance of a thousand dragons.
Destructive, terrifying magic spread outward like a tidal wave, causing the entire space to tremble violently!
The next second, a blinding crimson glow, like a miniature sun, illuminated the dark space.
Then came an explosion like a raging ocean storm!
Back in the real world—
Mordo, substituting for Strange, maintained the Mirror Dimension, controlling everything around them. He herded all the Time's Up Birds into one place, trapping them.
The gathered sorcerers unleashed various spells, bombarding the creatures from all directions.
Just then, a black hole appeared in the ground behind Mordo, and Strange was tossed out from it.
The hole snapped shut right after.
"Waaahhh!!"
Strange was flung into the air, then crashed hard onto the ground.
And it wasn't over yet—his Apocalypse Staff followed right after, landing squarely on his back.
"Ahh... my back..."
Strange cried out in pain, clearly injured.
"You escaped!"
Mordo's eyes lit up when he saw Strange, quickly helping him up.
"Yeah... well, technically, I blew myself out of there."
Strange answered weakly.
"Your magic is almost drained... Don't tell me you used... that blast spell?"
Mordo couldn't help asking.
"Yes, and honestly, that's not even magic—it's a nuclear bomb. Or rather, something worse than a nuclear bomb."
Strange couldn't help shivering as he spoke.
When the explosion erupted, he was right near the blast zone. If he hadn't immediately drawn on more energy from Kamar-Taj and cast a protective barrier, he would've been vaporized on the spot.
Even so, he wasn't exactly in great shape.
In any case, after the blast magic unleashed its full destructive force, the Terrifying Old Man, seemingly frightened by its power, threw Strange out.
"Damn... you're one lucky guy."
Mordo couldn't help but grumble after hearing Strange's tale.
"Uh... never mind about me. What's going on here? What about those freaky birds?"
Strange asked, worried about the situation on this side.
"Don't worry. We're still in control... though we did lose a few of our own."
As Mordo spoke, he suddenly conjured a magical longsword and spun around.
Just in time, a Time's Up Bird leaped out of the nearby bushes and impaled itself on Mordo's blade, dying instantly.
"Still dangerous, though."
Mordo remarked calmly.
Meanwhile, in Africa—
Wakanda.
To the outside world, Wakanda had always been viewed as an impoverished, insignificant country, with no real value.
But in truth, it possessed the richest deposits of Vibranium.
While the world remained blissfully ignorant, Wakanda had long since become the most technologically advanced nation on Earth!
However, on this day, Wakanda faced a catastrophic disaster:
An invasion by the Greedy Wyrms.
The Greedy Wyrms emerged in a vast, sandy region of Wakanda.
And it just so happened to be nighttime—the time when the Greedy Wyrms were most active.
In just a single night, the Greedy Wyrms, using their unique abilities, slaughtered countless Wakandan citizens and buried half of the city under sand.
Even though Wakanda possessed cutting-edge technology, they had never encountered anything like this.
Even when they realized they needed to attack the sand, they didn't know that the real enemy was the worm-like creatures burrowing beneath it.
What's more, the sheer volume of sand was overwhelming—like a raging river—impossible to eliminate completely.
In the end, the Wakandan king could only change tactics. He led the remaining survivors to hide in the royal palace's underground base, sealing all entrances, exits, and ventilation ducts to escape the Greedy Wyrms' onslaught.
Now, the situation in Wakanda was dire.
The ground above was entirely submerged by the Greedy Wyrms' sand.
Out of the eighteen tribes, only a third of the population remained, huddled together in the underground base.
King T'Chaka was doing his best to comfort the civilians, while also discussing the situation with the other tribal leaders.
"This must be the work of some malevolent force trying to wipe us out. We must find and destroy whoever is behind this!"
"But how can we know who it is? We have no idea who's controlling all that sand!"
"And even if the sand is being controlled, how could it possibly eat people?"
"Wahhhh!!"
Some of the survivors, hearing about the man-eating sand, couldn't suppress their fear, clutching their heads in agony.
All of them had gruesome wounds on their bodies—bites and tears that looked like they had been gnawed into their flesh.
Seeing this, T'Chaka clenched his fists tightly, cursing his own helplessness.
He then turned to a large screen beside him.
The screen displayed the scene outside.
A barren desert as far as the eye could see—there was no trace left of Wakanda's former beauty.
Though everything seemed quiet for now, T'Chaka was certain:
The moment someone dared step outside, the desert would erupt into a violent frenzy!
"Father!"
Just then, T'Challa and Shuri came running in, clearly anxious.
"We figured out what those sands are!"
T'Challa said urgently.
The others immediately turned to look at him.
Shuri tapped her device, and the screen shifted to display a microscopic video.
"Based on my research, it's not the sand that's attacking us. It's a type of microorganism within the sand—creatures like worms, but far more deadly. They can directly harm human bodies... and they know how to use the sand as camouflage."
Shuri quickly shared her analysis.
The others stared, dumbfounded.
They couldn't comprehend what they were hearing.
How could the familiar desert sands, something they had lived with for generations, suddenly harbor such terrifying microorganisms?
"Do we know how they appeared?"
T'Chaka immediately asked.
"We haven't figured that out yet. It doesn't seem like a naturally occurring phenomenon."
Shuri shook her head.
"Then how do we kill them?"
Another person voiced the most crucial question—what everyone truly wanted to know.
"We'll either need massive amounts of chemical agents... or we'll have to incinerate them at extremely high temperatures..."
Shuri's voice trailed off, a hint of unease creeping in.
"But to tackle such a massive scale... we'd need an even larger-scale operation. That might destroy all of Wakanda."
Her words left everyone in shock.
Could this really be the end of Wakanda?
"Ahhhh!! There's sand leaking in!!"
Just then, someone suddenly screamed.
They pointed in horror as sand began seeping through the seams of the steel-reinforced walls!
