It was Rayleigh's laugh that reverberated throughout the entire area that made almost everyone on the island wake up. Yulie watched him as she took another bite from the meat that the women from Amazon Lily had given her.
"Here, younger sister, eat more"
Yulie eyed the pirate empress, Boa Hancock beside her. She did depart for Sabaody weeks ago only to find out that Rayleigh and his wife Shakky had departed for Amazon Lily. Apparently, the Marines and Blackbeard pirates had attacked Amazon Lily and their current empress, Boa Hancock. Rayleigh helped them out which leads to his current whereabouts.
After learning about this, Yulie, with the help of her awakened ability, traveled safely through the calm belt until she reached Amazon Lily. She pondered on how different her welcome was. The citizens of Maiden Island instantly questioned and pointed weapons at her. But, when she saw the large picture of Luffy, she had no choice but to use her brother's name.
That was the reason why Rayleigh was laughing so loud. She had stated her name, identity, and purpose and was instantly treated as a little sister by the pirate empress. Yulie gulped down the remainder of the meat she was holding and stared at Hancock.
"Are you in love with Luffy?"
Her nonsensical question drove Rayleigh into laughing more and Hancock into blushing.
"I mean, I do want you to approve of our marriage. So I'm sorry about earlier, I didn't know that Luffy has a sister"
"Is that so? Then it's alright, I just think you are too pretty and good for Luffy"
Yulie's answer sent Hancock into a frenzy while Rayleigh finished his drink. He looked at Yulie and sure enough, he could see the resemblance between her and Luffy.
"So, Yulie-kun"
Yulie's attention quickly shifted towards Rayleigh who was staring at her with a little smile on his face.
"You said you wanted to sail?"
Yulie nodded and stared back at Rayleigh a little more serious now.
"Right now, my devil fruit abilities allow me to travel across the ocean and I've read countless navigation charts for this."
"But?"
"But that doesn't mean I could fend for myself out there. I'm already lucky enough to be able to get here without fighting anyone, but the new world is different, is it not?"
"And you searched for me because you knew that I taught Luffy-kun?"
Yulie nodded at Rayleigh, this was the reason why she wanted to search for Rayleigh. Yulie could use some of her awakened abilities for combat but the concept of Haki was new for her. There was no one in Windmill Village who could teach her and even though her basic combat abilities weren't lacking, they certainly weren't enough.
"I do get your sympathy but I could only teach you how to learn Haki, are you sure it will be enough?"
"Currently, my butterflies had a variety of poison that had different effects. I could control that freely. I think that's enough for self -defense but with the addition of Haki, I think I'll be fine"
"Self-defense huh?"
Rayleigh laughed which Yulie found intriguing. Did she say something to incite this reaction?
"You may be siblings but you are certainly different in some ways. While Luffy-kun strives to get stronger to fight and protect, yours would only be for self-defense. Does that mean that you aren't a troublemaker like your brother?"
"Well, if you put it like that then Luffy is definitely more of a troublemaker than me"
Rayleigh smiled before offering his hand to Yulie to which the lass gladly took.
"Okay, but we'll do it here in Maiden Island, and I won't take it easy on you just because you're a girl"
"That's just the way I like it"
And time passed just like that. Yulie was a much faster learner compared to Luffy and since she didn't need to develop any other attacks, her lessons ended in just a week. It was just around the time that the war in Wano had ended when she decided to set sail.
Yulie looked at the newspaper that was delivered to her tiny boat. A wide smile plastered on her face when she saw that Luffy's bounty went up along with the news that he was one of the new emperors. She stretched her hands upward as she stared at the wide horizon in front of her.
"Within these horizon, Sabo and Luffy are somewhere"
She sighed deeply at the thought of Sabo. News about his assassination of King Cobra of Alabasta during the reverie was widely known, ultimately she was late to read the news. She had hoped to be able to meet him somehow, but she really couldn't imprint her butterflies with the image of him.
For her butterflies to be able to find someone even from far away, it needed to have its smell. An exemption would be if she could know where the person is. She learned where Luffy was that's why she was able to make an imprint. But, it's different with Sabo. She doesn't have any clue about his whereabouts but she does wish he was well.
Yulie watched as one of her surveillance butterflies came back with an urgent flutter of its wings in the direction of a small island. Yulie knew that something bad had happened. She quickly sailed towards there. The butterfly didn't emit any sense of danger but it was something that needed her urgent attention. Her surveillance butterflies are smart like that.
Yulie's eyes widened as she stared at what looked like the aftermath of a battle. Remnants of what seemed like a ship were floating around. But, something else caught her attention.
Multiple bodies floating, hanging on the logs that came from the wrecked ship. She didn't even think twice and let out every last one of her butterflies.
"Save everyone"
Her attention shifted to the nearby island where two bodies were also lying on the sand.
It was this time around that Yulie met someone who would change her life forever.
