48. A Level Beyond (part 2)

Standing at the ledge of the crater is a man with two hair colors and a black and white suit, all of which are separated by a middle line that goes from the top of his head to his shoes. The dual colored man lifted both his hands and started stretching his muscles after a long day of annoyance, and he let out a sigh after a while.

"My body is still aching… that damn brat really blasted himself to try and kill me." The man said as he turned around towards the crater, and his eyes gazed at the destroyed floor of the crater to look for the dead child.

However, his eyes can only see a barren wasteland that goes to the distance.

"… Where did he go?" The man mumbled while looking around, but he felt a presence coming behind him. He turned around quickly to find a boy holding a sword enchanted by electricity.

Seeing young Eric Axwell so eager to fight him, the merged headmaster and Zero only chuckled.

"Where is your buddy? He can't be alive, can he?" Headmaster Zero asked Eric while folding his hands, and Eric can only stand frozen right where he is standing.

The man before him… is not the same opponent as the one he has faced. His level has reached beyond anything that he can ever reach, even with the Limit Break. Even with multiple people using Limit Break, Eric still doubted that they could truly win this fight.

However, a plan is a plan. He must go forth with what he must do so the others can do their part.

"What do you think? His body just perished because of you." Eric said coldly to the headmaster, and the opposition laughed at that answer.

"Nonsense! That boy is a lot stronger than anyone can ever imagine. So, where is he? Give him to me."

"As if he's something you can just take---"

VWOOOSSSSHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eric reacted very quickly when the white blade nearly sliced his face off, and his eyes were locked to the headmaster who is now right in front of him, wearing a cold grin.

"Oh…? You're quite the fast one, aren't you?" Headmaster Zero commented, and deep inside Eric's mind, he felt something that he has never felt in a long time.

"Tsk!!" Eric quickly leaped away, knowing that his opponent is now just as fast as he is. However, he completely underestimated the abilities of a godlike light origin master such as the headmaster.

FTANNGGGG!!!!!!!!

FTANNNGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!

Eric moved as quickly as he could to deflect the headmaster's attacks, but it was far too powerful. A single sword hit done by the headmaster was just as strong as Zero's swings, but they are also as fast as the headmaster's movement speed.

No, maybe even faster. Perhaps even stronger, too.

With the two combining, their abilities skyrocketed unlike if they were two different people. They were able to combine their abilities, allowing for an even larger result.

Instead of addition… this result is a lot more like multiplying. The upgrades in terms of speed and strength is just absurd, and Eric's speed alone wasn't even enough to match the headmaster's speed.

"Damn it!!! How much longer!?!?" Eric shouted to the active communication device that is on his chest, and the people behind the small device heard his cry loud and clear.

"Move away from him!!" A voice came through the device, and Eric quickly realized that they are now in phase two.

In an instant, Eric's body turned into a zap of lightning and started running away from the headmaster. Seeing that his opponent had run away, the headmaster stopped for a while to try and think of a guess. However, that act was a mistake from him.

GREBBB!!!!!!!

Without realizing, the ground around the headmaster's feet got lowered, capturing his feet thirty centimeters deep into the ground.

"What?" The headmaster commented, but two shadows can be found flying in the air towards him.

""HooooOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!""

From above, a giant water dragon and a powerful wind arrow was released towards where the headmaster was standing. The two who fired them were Lily and Nyssa, who both had activated the Limit Break forms long before they arrived nearby.

And seeing such powerful techniques, alongside the meticulous planning of confusing the headmaster with Eric's movement and the trap setup by Jonah, the headmaster can only lift his smirk.

"Well, well, well. My children are always so--"

"Stop saying my children this and that… you two faced freak."

Behind the headmaster, a voice was suddenly heard which shocked him massively. The headmaster quickly turned around before the water dragon and the wind arrow reached him, only to find me holding a powerful red ball of fire right in front of me.

"Oh, don't mind me! I'll just be leaving this here." I said to him as I pushed the fireball onto his chest, and the headmaster only stared at me with widely opened eyes.

Not only am I not wounded, but I also showed him the same grin as the one he was wearing before he heard my voice. My appearance here is definitely unexpected to him.

"How did you--"

BZZTTT!!!!!!!!!!!

At that instant, a lightning zap occurred behind me, and the headmaster was able to catch Eric's face for a glimpse of a second before disappearing. I also disappeared alongside Eric, which made the headmaster realize that everything here has been nothing but a perfectly set up trap to defeat him.

The headmaster then turned his gaze to the fireball that I left behind, only to find a beautiful black electric sphere that was behind the fireball.

Eric… also left behind a special present.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The powerful explosion once again shook the whole area, turning the ground covered in nothing but a cloud of dust. The powerful shockwave reaches all the way up to twenty meters away, and it affects even us who have already distanced ourselves quite far away from it.

We grouped up at about fifty meters away from the center of the blast, not wanting to go anywhere near the headmaster for now. Eric and I arrived lastly, because we were the last ones to place our origin explosives onto the headmaster.

"Did you do it??" Behind me, Jonah asked with curiosity, and I chuckled from remembering.

"Yeah… that guy looked so surprised to see me." I said genuinely from what I saw, and the three behind me turned quite glad hearing that.

"Your black lightning does come in quite handy, huh Eric? Otherwise, you won't be able to fool him." Lily pointed out to Eric, and the mercenary guy only snorted.

"It was his fault for underestimating me."

"Well, honestly we're quite underestimating him as well. Because… we still don't know whether he dies or not from that explosion." I said for everyone to hear, and they all realized that possibility being true.

Learning that, we all turned our cold gazes back to the rising cloud in the distance, hoping and begging that our attacks can genuinely kill a demigod like Headmaster Zero.

Is what we've done… truly enough?
