Screams echo beneath the night sky
The once peaceful air of festivities was disrupted by hordes upon hordes of Infected.
The crowd that was joyful just a minute ago, now disperses like fleeing cockroaches, running away from the horrors that have appeared out of nowhere.
More police soon arrives at the scene, they turned to the opposite direction of the crowd, facing towards the horde of infected.
Rows upon rows of police cars lined up to create a makeshift barricade. Officers lined up behind their car with their guns aiming toward the horde, they were taking shots at the rapid infected. Gunshots can be heard reverberating throughout the night.
It look as if a impenetrable fortress have been made, a line of steel vehicles for walls, a row of guns and a storm of bullet in place of a rain of arrows. From afar, the officers look like brave warrior valiantly fending off a flood of monsters, but upon closer inspection that was not the case. They were sweating bullets, hand shaking, their pupil dilated, their breath shallow and ragged lungs begging for air. For every infected they shot down 3 more come to take their place, they didn't account for this much adversaries. The seemingly well-protected trench line was slowly being overwhelmed, every gunshot attracted 10 more zombies, but the officer fighting held out hope. They believed that they can survive until the army arrives, they use that hope to keep on pulling the trigger until there was no rounds left. That hope was quickly dashed as a deafening roar was unleashed, a huge shadow was quickly approaching them and no amount of gunshot can bring it to a stop.
" What the hell is that!!!"
The zombie approaching them was huge, it's right hand mutated into a literal meat shield, soaking in bullets like a sponge. It was approaching fast without stop, like a battering ram to break the fortress walls. It rammed into the rows of car sending vehicles and humans alike flying into the air.
" N-Nooooo... Garghhhhhhhh!!!"
" Screw it... I'm outta here!"
An officer fearing for his life toss aside his gun and ran as fast as his feet could take abandoning his comrades, but the ram zombie quickly catches up and crushed him like a bug.
Disciplined soldiers were reduced to cowardly men before the unending horde. An officer firing wildly got swiftly decapitated by an athletic zombie with long claws. The rest ran for their life abandoning their duty.
We finally got to the car. Dad practically shoved me inside the backseat then took the driver seat in a haste. He stepped on the pedal and speeds off the parking lot. This is probably the fastest he has ever driven in his entire life.
Looking out of the backseat window, I could see the full chaos that was ensuing in the city. Flames engulfed buildings and skyscraper. A helicopter making deafening noise as it flies over us, shouting evacuation orders through the speakerphone. More police car with siren blaring driving past us into the direction we just came from, possibly to reinforce their men. Panicking people ran into the streets, they don't even care about possibly getting hit by a car, that doesn't matter to them anymore. I see a man turn a corner only to bump into a large brute zombie that squish him like a bug, splattering his blood over the pavement and nearby walls. A woman running tripped on her heels and was immediately devoured by hungry infected. A little boy trapped inside a burning building with no way out and could only call for help- help that will never arrive.
I could only watch in abject horror, unable to process what is happening.
" We need to go faster!" grandpa shouts
" I'm trying my best, if I go any faster than this, I'll run straight into them" dad angrily retorted.
People were fleeing in all directions, they didn't care where they were going as long as they are far away from the cannibals that want to gorge on their flesh. Some of they bump into my father's car as he tries his best to dodge them.
" That's the bridge we're close!"
The bridge that will take us back to home comes into view, but it's packed full of car. Row of different colored cars from truck to sedan blocked the bridge, their horn blaring at the obstacle in front of them, creating a chaotic symphony.
" Damn it! Everyone and their mother had the same idea" dad grunts impatiently, his voice sounding rather desperate.
" It's that the police? Why are they blocking the way?"
Police were ordering people to come out of their vehicle and form a line for checkup. Some medics and doctors were on the scene as well, their hand holding a device to scan people. One of them approaches our car with an officer behind him.
" Excuse me sir, but you now need to step out of the car for checkups" he said, his hand calmly place on a tablet. He seems to still have a professional air around him even in this chaos.
" You've got to be kidding me! We got monsters running around trying to eat people, we don't have time for this!" father angrily replies.
" We understand sir but it will only take--"
His words were cut off suddenly as throat-tearing screeches can be heard in the back. It's the zombies, they're here!
" Everyone get out the car and make it to the barricade! Go!" An officer in the back shout at the top of his lung.
Simultaneously, his comrade take to the front and start gunning down the zombies. We ran as fast as possible while keeping our head low to avoid getting hit. Any screams of panic were immediately drowned out by the sound of gunshot. Military troops were unleashing a hailstorm of bullets into the approaching horde, shattering windows and trigger car alarm all over the bridge, the sparks from their gun roaring light up the bridge.
All procedures and lines were abandoned as everyone were out from themselves, the doctors that was so professional just a minute ago was not cowering behind barricade, some shivering and peeking out from their spot.
Screams of panic and gunshot erupting in the area turned it into a hotspot, attracting zombies to it like bees to honey. If this keep up, the place would be overwhelmed in a few moments, even the troops that were so hung-go and eager to fight awhile ago, started to retreat back into the barricade. They were still consistent with their firing but the unending horde was slowing killing their hope, like a flickering candle light in a strong wind. The zombies slam into the barricade with the force of water breaking from a dam, toppling the wired fences over, crushing those that were hiding behind it.
