"Well, it wasn't that bad, hehehe..." Petra chuckled awkwardly, patting Eren's back. He sighed, slumping forward like a man carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.
"Wimp," Levi scoffed, his sharp gaze never leaving Eren.
But before Levi could unleash another verbal jab, a high-pitched scream cut through the room.
"EREHHHH!!!"
The sound was followed by her battle cry as Mikasa came crashing through the door like a storm incarnate. Before anyone could even process what had just happened, she was already across the room, her arms locking around Eren like a vice.
"Eren! You... you're okay!" she cried, her voice trembling with relief. "I've been looking everywhere for you! Wait..." Her eyes narrowed, darting toward Levi with suspicion.
She cupped Eren's cheeks, inspecting his face with the intensity of someone looking for evidence of a crime. "Did this chibi do anything to you? He didn't pin you against a wall and try to make a child with you, did he?"
Eren's jaw dropped as his brain desperately tried to reboot. "What the hell are you even talking about, Mikasa—"
But Levi cut him off.
"We did," Levi deadpanned, his tone as flat as ever, though his eyes gleamed with wicked amusement. "We took turns giving each other malevolent backshots. You have no idea how deep I was inside him. The way he grunted and moaned—" Levi placed a hand over his heart. "Only I got to witness that."
Mikasa's eyes widened in horror. She whipped her head back to Eren, then to Levi, and then back to Eren again.
"Eh?" Eren muttered eyes darting to Levi, his body stiff as his mind screamed, What the actual fuck is happening right now?!
Meanwhile, Levi's smirk widened ever so slightly as he leaned back against the wall, crossing his arms. "Tell her, Eren," he said, his voice dripping with mockery.
"Tell her what happened just now. How good it felt. The way you squealed like a piggy and... the way you called me Levi~chan. Don't you remember?"
Mikasa gasped, pulling back to look at Eren, her eyes swimming with disbelief and hurt.
Eren's jaw dropped as he looked between Mikasa and Levi, his mind scrambling to process the sheer absurdity of the situation. Did Levi just call both of them gay? What kind of fever dream was this?
"M-Mikasa... it's... It's not like that." Eren muttered, catching up, hands raised, "Levi's nothing more than an older brother for me..." Eren said his tone filled with raw honesty.
"Really?"Mikasa asked, her voice trembling as she clutched his shirt.
"Enough with it brat..," Levi interrupted, his face as stoic as ever but his words laced with dry amusement. "Eren's just upset I outperformed him. It's not my fault he can't handle my dominance."
Eren whipped his head toward Levi, his expression screaming betrayal. "Levi the fuck are you talking about?"
But Levi wasn't done. His voice took on an exaggerated mockery as he leaned slightly forward. "Tell her, Eren. Tell her how you begged me to slow down. How you couldn't take it anymore but still wanted more. The way you —"
"Levi!" Eren roared, his face flushed redder than a ripe tomato as Mikasa's grip on his shirt tightened.
"Eren..." she murmured, her voice low and shaky, her gaze darting between him and Levi. "Is that... is that true?"
"NO!" Eren shouted, waving his hands frantically. "It's not true! He's lying, Mikasa! Trust me!"
Mikasa blinked, her cheeks darkening, though whether it was out of anger or embarrassment, Eren couldn't tell. "So... so you didn't call him Levi~chan?" she asked hesitantly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Eren groaned, dragging a hand down his face. "Mikasa, I never called him anything like that!"
Levi shrugged, his expression maddeningly indifferent as he crossed his arms. "Believe what you want. But if you hear Eren whimpering my name in his sleep tonight, don't say I didn't warn you."
"Levi, I swear to—" Eren growled, his fists clenched at his sides, but before he could finish, Mikasa lunged forward and wrapped him in a tight hug, her cheek pressing against his chest.
"I'm sorry, Eren," she said softly, her voice muffled against his shirt. "If only... If only I was a guy... I would've taken the advantage."
Eren stood there, arms stiff at his sides, utterly dumbfounded. "Eh?... Heyy!!! C'mon you know I only love you..." Eren groaned, running a hand through his messy hair, his eyes pleading for her to believe him.
Mikasa pulled back slightly, her hands still resting on his chest. She blinked up at him, her big, dark eyes shining with a mix of suspicion and vulnerability. Her nose twitched as she tilted her head like an inquisitive kitten.
"Really?" she asked, her voice soft but with a pout that could melt steel.
"Yes! Really, really," Eren nodded fervently, his face flushing. He couldn't tell if it was her adorably exaggerated doubt or Levi's teasing that was more embarrassing.
Her lips parted as if to press further, but instead, her expression softened. "But… Eren, what are you doing here then?" she asked, her voice dropping to a gentler tone as her fingers brushed lightly against his shirt, smoothing it out as though it was second nature. "Petra told me that you needed fresh air…"
Eren opened his mouth, caught entirely off guard his eyes shifting to Petra who just sat on the bed beside them and was chuckling at these three, but before Eren could speak, Levi's deadpan voice cut through the moment like a blade.
"So that he could cry on my shoulder. What else?" Levi said, arms crossed, his tone as stoic as ever.
"Levi, are you seriously trying to get me divorced the day after my wedding?" Eren groaned, rubbing his temples as a hint of exasperation crossed his face.
But Mikasa's eyes narrowed, her gaze sharpening into a death glare directed at Levi. "Cry on your shoulder? Tch… Ereh has me," she huffed.
Her voice suddenly softened into something more girlish. "Eren… Come here," she cooed, threading her fingers through his hair and gently pulling his head onto her shoulder. "There, there… Now you can cry," she added with a playful pout, her tone dripping with tenderness.
Eren's mind was on the verge of imploding. On one side, his cousin had happily declared them both gay just to mess with Mikasa. On the other, his wife—impossibly stubborn and nearly impossible to reason with—was now wishing she were a guy.
"What the hell did I do to deserve this?" Eren thought, his sanity hanging by a thread.
Before things could escalate further, Petra stepped in, tugging firmly on Levi's ear. "Alright, that's enough, Levi." she smiled, her voice both playful but authoritative of someone who knew how to handle him.
The tension in the room eased, and everyone settled into their respective places. Mikasa perched by Eren's side, her hand resting lightly on his knee, while Petra sat close to Levi, her presence softening the air around him.
Levi leaned back on the sofa, his usual stoic expression softening just slightly as he watched the scene settle into calmness. "Anyhow, Eren," he began, his tone firm but lacking its usual edge, "The new recruits for our squad would be here by tomorrow..."
"Hm… The cadets from the 104th..." Eren replied, his hand instinctively resting on Mikasa's head. A soft smile graced her lips as his fingers traced idle patterns on her hair. It was moments like these that reminded him of the battle it took for Mikasa and Armin to convince him to stay with the Scouts. Against all odds, their persistence had worn him down.
"Oh I almost forgot I sent a letter to Hange," Eren said, his gaze shifting toward the window, where the faint sunlight danced across the glass. "She was requesting approval for more experiments. Thus I approved."
Levi nodded glancing up at the ceiling soon the quiet moment was interrupted by a faint knock at the door.
"Yeah?" Levi called out, his tone carrying its usual sharpness.
The door creaked open, revealing Armin holding a letter. "This came for you, Eren," he said, stepping inside. Apparently, the servant was supposed to deliver it, but since Armin was already on my way here, he offered to bring it instead.
Armin joined them, sitting on the edge of the bed as Eren took the letter from him. Breaking the seal, Eren's eyes scanned the contents quickly before he groaned, collapsing backward onto the mattress with his arms spread wide.
"What now?" Levi asked, his gaze fixed on Eren, his tone flat as ever.
Eren exhaled loudly, shaking his head. "The experiments were futhur confirmed… but that dickhead Zachary wants us to conduct them on the far western side of Wall Rose. Supposedly for the safety of the civilians."
Levi pinched the bridge of his nose, his patience thinning. "Asshole," he muttered under his breath.
"That's not even the worst part," Eren continued, sitting up and raking a hand through his hair in frustration. "We're going to be stuck living in some damn cottage for two months."
Armin, ever the optimist, couldn't help but chuckle at Eren's exaggerated annoyance. "You sound like you've already resigned yourself to misery," he teased.
"Because I have," Eren shot back, groaning again.
Eren looked up, scratching his chin. "There'll probably be MPs spying on us. Zachary didn't say it outright, but I know how he operates."
Eren held the letter in front of his face, eyes widening in disbelief as he kept scanning it's contents, "Uhhhhh... Right... we're cooked..." he groaned, bolting up. "Hey Levi, the new recruits... Is there that blonde girl with the cute face?"
Levi, glancing up from his thoughts, nodded. "Yeah, the one with that beautiful smile... Uhhh, Historia Reiss."
The two of them continued casually talking, but then, almost in perfect sync, they felt a sudden chill run down their spines. Their eyes instinctively shifted to their sides, and there they were—Mikasa and Petra, both glaring at them with eyes colder than ice.
"W... Well..." Eren stammered, his brow twitching. He quickly draped his arm over Mikasa's shoulder, trying to defuse the situation. Levi did the same with Petra, though he was more unbothered by it.
"Ehm... Uhm, anyhow..." Levi said, breaking the silence, "I made sure to include her in my squad. She might get targeted by the MPs or the fake king. Best if she stays close with us, I mean, our squad."
Eren nodded, still feeling the weight of Mikasa's icy stare.
Levi stood up from the sofa sighing, his gaze steady as he addressed Eren. "The recruits will be here by tomorrow, and Hange should be here in a day or two. Erwin will start pushing for negotiations with the authorities about the expedition to retake Wall Maria. Until then, we've got nothing to do but keep training, Eren." His eyes remained fixed on him, a silent challenge lingering.
Eren nodded, trying to stifle a groan.
Levi smirked, heading for the door, but not before delivering one last jab. "Spend the rest of the day with your brat, Eren. But don't forget, you and I have a date in the fields. Sunrise. Don't be late." A casual way of commanding him to be in the fields by sunrise for training.
The three teens froze, their mouths agape.
Eren blinked, face redder than the morning sun.
"The Fuckkk!!"
