Chapter 1

"Do you Su Yu take Jiang Yue to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love and to cherish, in sickness and in health, in poverty and in wealth, till death do you part?" The priest asked.

"I do."

"Do you Jiang Yue take Su Yu to be your lawfully wedded husband, to love and to cherish, in sickness and in health, in poverty and wealth, till death do you part?"

"Do I have a choice?" A woman's extremely lazy voice sounded. 

"Jiang Yue! Be respectful!" a woman from the congregation said sharply. 

Jiang Yue scoffed. "I have never had a choice. You people took away my right to make decisions years ago!" Jiang Yue said. 

The groom smirked. "Yes, you don't have a choice. Jiang Yue, you can only be mine, Su Yu's wife!" Then his lips crashed down on Jiang Yue's. He didn't care that she was trying so hard to resist him. He just held her firmly in his hands and continued to kiss her. 

In this lifetime, Jiang Yue can only belong to him, Su Yu!

Su Yu opened his eyes slowly. The events of the previous day started to come back to him slowly. Yesterday, he had married the woman that he had loved for several years. They had consummated their marriage. The journey for both of them has not been easy. Although she hates him right now, he is sure that he will be able to change Jiang Yue's mind. She will definitely fall in love with him!

 Su Yu had a satisfied smile on his face. He reached out to hug the body that was sleeping next to him but his hands landed on an empty space. Jiang Yue was gone. Su Yu sat up immediately. 

"Jiang Yue! Jiang Yue!" Su Yu called out urgently but no one answered. He should have known! He should have known that she wouldn't calmly accept to get married so easily. She had already planned to run away from the beginning. Su Yu got up from the bed and ran a hand through his hair impatiently. He had waited and waited, even when her heart belonged to someone else, he still did not give up. But she, she left him the second she got a chance to! He really thought, really thought that there was a chance for the both of them. Last night, he thought that she was finally opening up to him after all that they had been through. But it was all a farce! Does she really love that person so much? So much so that there isn't space for him in her heart?

Su Yu saw a note on the side table. He picked it up and read it. There was one sentence in it. "We should not have met."

Su Yu agreed with that. They should not have met. If they had not met, he would not have had to suffer so much. He Su Yu had never faced any setbacks in his life before he met Jiang Yue. His first and only setback is Jiang Yue. The woman who can be kind to everyone else but will never spare him a smile.

Three years ago

Jiang Yue was still sleeping when her mother walked into her room.

"Seriously this girl…doesn't she know that she's going to be late for school?" Jiang Yue's mother, Lin He, muttered to herself. 

She tapped on her daughter who was still in Lala land. 

"Hey, Jiang Yue, wake up! Don't you know that you're going to be late for school?!" Lin He said. 

Jiang Yue turned over and continued to sleep, continuing ignoring her mother. 

"This girl…Hey Jiang Yue! Get up! Get up right now!" Lin He tapped Jiang Yue even harder but Jiang Yue still did not budge. 

"Jiang Yue, you are going to miss the opening ceremony today! Weren't you the most excited about going to Second High School?! I'm sure that Kang Jian is already there! You'll be the only one late! I'll see what you'll do then!" Lin He said. 

She decided to ignore her daughter and just walk away but Jiang Yue jumped up from the bed just then. 

"Mom….what did you say? What about Second High School?" Jiang Yue asked as she rubbed her eyes. 

Lin He almost laughed when she saw her daughter acting so cute. Second High was almost an obsession for her. You can get Jiang Yue to do anything just by mentioning Second High School. 

"Are you still sleeping, Jiang Yue?! Today is the opening ceremony! Did you forget that you and Kang Jian got into second High?" Lin He asked while trying to stifle a burst of laughter. 

Jiang Yue was fully awake now. "Mom you are right! I'm going to be late! Don't talk to me! I have to get ready!" With that, Jiang Yue dashed into the shower. 

"I'm not the one who asked you to sleep so late at night!" Lin He called after her but Jiang Yue was no longer listening. 

Inside the shower, all that she could think of was that she was finally going to attend her dream High school. 

Of course, there was no way her mom would be able to afford the exorbitant school fees, so she had worked crazy hard for the past six months to get the three-year full-course scholarship. She finally did get it, however, she was going to be late on her first day! 

"How annoying!" Jiang Yue muttered to herself. 

...

"Wait….wait….don't go! Wait.." Jiang Yue ran after the bus but it was already moving. 

She felt like crying. She even skipped breakfast at home thinking that she would be able to catch the bus this way. But she was still late! How is she supposed to get to school? 

Jiang Yue thought of her allowance, if she took a taxi, she wouldn't be having lunch for the next two days. Is it really worth it?! 

Just then….

"Jiang Yue! Jiang Yue! Wait up! I'll take you to school!" A boy riding a bicycle waved at Jiang Yue. 

The bicycle soon stopped in front of Jiang Yue. 

"Hey worthless Kang, you have twenty minutes to get me to school. If I'm late, I'll kill you!"
