Seeing that the other party was in low spirits, Mingshu didn't know how to comfort him for a moment. After all, she wasn't the one who had been betrayed; anything she said might come across as not understanding the pain of speaking.
No one could soothe such a situation, it had to be come to terms with on one's own.
The Prefect didn't stay downcast for long and soon regained his spirit. Seeing Mingshu's hesitant look, he curved his lips apologetically, "I've made you witness an embarrassing scene, Your Highness."
Mingshu shook her head carefully and glanced at him. "Are you all right?" she asked tentatively.
The Prefect's eyes dimmed for a moment before he sighed. "As much as I don't want to believe it, it's the truth." He straightened up, his expression growing serious, "Rest assured, Your Highness. I will not cover up such an outrage against natural law!"
