Chapter 9: I've Found You a Matchmaking Prospect

Su Heng hurried over, thinking everything through very well. So Yu Xi came back, and though it's not necessarily bad that she did, since she's back, they shouldn't drive her away. Even though Yu Xi was raised by her grandmother to be less than spirited, she could still serve as a stepping stone for Tian Tian, not completely useless.

The purpose for which she had called Yu Xi back today, she hadn't forgotten. No matter what, she had to coax Yu Xi into staying.

"Okay, okay, Xinnong, it's also my fault. I never should have left her with her grandmother. If I had raised her myself, look, Tian Tian would have been raised so well."

Upon hearing this, Yu Xi snorted even more coldly.

Yu Xinnong became even more infuriated by the expression on her face, "What kind of attitude is that? Look at yourself. Since you've come back, what haven't you done? Fighting, quarreling, stealing from home, staying out all night, getting drunk, going to the police station, and today you even climbed the wall. You and Tian Tian are both my daughters, how can there be such a big difference."

Yu Xi looked up and sneered, "Of course, Yu Tian inherited all of Mom's genes. Me, well, I take after you."

"You... you..." Yu Xinnong truly felt that she was going to be angered to death by her.

Ever since Yu Xi was young, this is how she'd been. Although her grandmother doted on her, due to her age, she couldn't discipline her much. Yu Xi grew accustomed to running around outside, and her temperament became fiercer. She dared to talk back to anyone, without any manners, truly.

Yu Xinnong's hand rose again to strike, but was stopped by Su Heng, who had her own plans in mind, "Oh, don't hit the child, don't hit the child."

"Don't stop me. You're kind to her, but she won't treat you well. What are you blocking for? Let me beat some sense into this disobedient child."

"Alright, alright, if she doesn't want to go to school, let it be," Su Heng said, "Right, someone mentioned a few days ago, said it was someone from Lin's Real Estate, who took a liking to Yu Xi and wanted to come to propose. Why not, let Yu Xi meet him. For a girl, if things don't work out, marriage is still an option. Yu Xi is also of age now."

Yu Xinnong, with Su Heng repeatedly comforting her chest, finally calmed down quite a bit.

She stared at Yu Xi with a look of frustrated expectation.

When Yu Xi heard this, she laughed until tears nearly streamed down, "What? Lin's Real Estate, are you talking about the one who came to our house for dinner the other day? The eldest of their family? The eldest of their family is already forty years old. How much do I bother you that you hate me so much? I'm just 20, and you want to marry me off to such an old man?"

Yu Xi's words immediately reignited the fire that Xinnong had just managed to suppress.

Yu Xi had already gotten used to it from a very young age, that family of three inside, living in happy harmony, while she lived like an outsider.

Su Heng had expected that she wouldn't agree so easily, but still patiently said, "Yu Xi, you're grown up now, be sensible. What's wrong with forty? A man is like a flower at forty. Their family is so rich, when you get there, wouldn't you live the high life? Eventually, when your sister marries into the Zuo family, and you to theirs, both sisters will have married well, and we can finally be at ease. What's more... the Zuo family and theirs are currently planning to cooperate. If you marry into their family, we'll all be one big family, isn't that great?"

Yu Xi was no fool. Hearing her last sentence, she finally understood.

"Mom, you want me to be a stepping stone for Yu Tian, to help her with her marriage alliance, don't you? If I marry into the Lin family, the Zuo family will see our family as more reliable, and they'll be surer about Yu Tian, right? Your schemes, they're really quite something. Tell me, am I someone you picked up and brought home? I'm not your real daughter, am I?"

Su Heng felt a chill on her face upon hearing this, her calculations laid bare, naturally bringing a twinge of embarrassment.
