Half-step Purgatory

Durin stroked the black cat on the armrest of his chair, sitting on the black leather sofa. Through the glasses perched on his nose, his gaze passed over the long table in front of him and settled on the man kneeling on the carpet:
"I understand, you've made money in Naples, your business has been very successful, and you've led a happy life. You've had those secret police, friends in both the law and the underground, and even the Royal Family speaking on your behalf."
"You don't need a friend like me, I know that. You're afraid of owing me a favor, and you don't want to get involved in troubles."
"But now you come to me and say, 'I beg you, Mr. Durin of the Corleon family, please help me seek justice, so that my life and my family will not suffer and sink into despair.'

Durin's Diary

Durin learned that the top floor of a hostel's branch in Lille City had been blown off by high-powered explosives. It was already two days after the incident.


The assassination in Lille City had been under the protection of the Circle of Truth. The five people in charge of the assassination were supposed to be transferred out of Lille City.


Turns out, the hostel they were temporarily staying at had its top floor blown off by an unknown force. It is said that the junior owner of the hostel happened to be there that very day, and was scared out of their wits.


Durin thought to himself that this was too extreme; it didn't seem like the work of nobles—nobles have recently also been keen on earning some favors from Durin's side. Therefore, even if they were to make a move, it wouldn't be something as drastic as blowing off half of a hostel rooftop.
