Chapter 15 What We Slimes Want, We Must Obtain

Karlo quietly read books at home.

Sherry could only return home once a week and had already gone back to school. Without Sherry, many things in the books were not very clear to her. Cherie was actually a suitable teacher as well, but due to a subtle pride belonging to an "older sister," Karlo seldom asked Cherie questions, which meant she had to struggle through studying on her own.

By now, she had memorized the spelling of over five hundred common words, and was not considered illiterate anymore.

Just then, Karlo's ears twitched, detecting approaching footsteps. She identified them as Cherie's, but they were faster and more urgent than usual, as if something had happened. Karlo closed the book and walked toward the door, and just as she pulled it open, Cherie appeared outside. Upon seeing her, Cherie said, "Karlo, I have something to tell you, but don't be scared!"

Karlo frowned slightly, "Good news or bad news?"
