Chapter 32 Foster Care

The room was filled with warmth, with a sumptuous meal laid out on the dining table; it seemed Adeline had prepared for quite some time for this meal.

Aside from Amanda, whom they had not seen for several days, Roger also saw a chubby little boy sitting next to the dining table.

Roger had seen his picture; he was Adeline's youngest son, Little Jack.

Amanda looked so thin she was nearly unrecognizable, her once radiant red hair had lost its luster. She seemed to have stabilized a lot emotionally, and upon seeing Roger come in, she managed a weak smile.

Roger nodded but didn't say anything.

Some memories can only be smoothed over by time.

"Let's eat first, or it will get cold," she said.

Adeline took her seat at the head of the table and devoutly said her prayers. Little Jack went through the motions, while Amanda remained completely indifferent.

It was clear she was not a believer.

"Finally, we can eat!"
