Chapter 6: Some People Want Me Dead

```
Outside the ward, Nan Mufeng halted in his tracks, staring at the special care unit in astonishment.
It seemed like he heard the name "Jian Xi."
"Brother Nan, what's wrong with you? Let's go!" Bing Kun, walking ahead, urged impatiently.
Nan Mufeng acted as if he heard nothing. He approached the ward and gazed inside through the glass.
It was indeed Jian Xi, her hands akimbo, eyebrows knit tightly. Her pretty, delicate face was filled with anger.
When she got worked up, she resembled an irritated cat, strangely endearing. This was a sharp contrast with the cool composure she had on the plane at midday.
So this was what she looked like when she was angry.
"Does that Qiao think I'm dead?!"
"Miss, this month's medical bills were still begged for by Aunt Yang from Song Jia on her knees, so please stop making a fuss, it's useless..."
"Aunt Yang, you're too easy to bully!" sneered Jian Xi. "Jian Xi was discarded abroad for ten years, and I've had several close calls with Yama Raja. Now that I'm alive and back, I won't let Mom suffer anymore!"
Aunt Yang was shocked: "Miss, what happened to you abroad?"
"Some people want me dead!"
"Oh my god..."
Aunt Yang covered her mouth in shock. She didn't even need to think to know who wanted Jian Xi dead!
Outside the ward, Nan Mufeng frowned, equally shocked. Could the Qiao family be this despicable?
"What are you looking at?" Bing Kun asked curiously, leaning in.
Just as he leaned in, before even catching a glimpse of the drama, he was whisked to the side by Nan Mufeng: "Nothing, let's go!"
"But I haven't seen the gossip yet!"
"The heart of a doctor is in their parents, what gossip is there to see?"
"You're really something, you were looking, too..."
"..."
Inside the ward, Jian Xi gradually calmed her anger, completely unaware that her actions had been witnessed by Nan Mufeng.
"Alright, Miss, don't be angry anymore, have some apple."
Jian Xi took the apple and bit into it fiercely, bite after bite with a crisp sound.
She had been too emotional just now. She should have controlled her emotions better. She was Jian Xi, the eighteen-year-old Jian Xi!
Anger only hurt oneself and couldn't change anything.
...
About an hour later, Qiao Yonghui finally arrived at the hospital. He purposefully appeared disheveled, pretending to be very busy: "Xiao Xi, Daddy's here."
"Long time no see," Jian Xi said coldly, glancing at him.
"Yes, it's been a long time. Ten years, hasn't it?" Qiao Yonghui set his briefcase aside, sighing with emotion, "Xiao Xi, you finally agreed to come back."
Agreed?
The word was too cleverly used.
Jian Xi gathered her emotions and said coolly, "Yes, I finally 'agreed' to let me come home."
Qiao Yonghui's face instantly turned awkward. But within a second, he quickly chose to ignore the meaning behind Jian Xi's words and changed the subject.
"Xiao Xi, actually, I have often come to see your mom. It's just that these past few days, the family has been busy preparing for your engagement celebration, so I couldn't make it..."
"President Qiao, you haven't been here for at least three months, right?" Jian Xi said.
Qiao Yonghui furrowed his brows: "What did you call me?"
"Mr. Qiao, CEO Qiao, is that wrong?" Jian Xi raised her eyebrows, her voice chilly.
"Xiao Xi, we're all family now, just call me Dad. You can call me that when you join the company and conduct official business."
Jian Xi rolled her eyes: "When will I join the company?"
Qiao Yonghui was taken aback, not expecting Jian Xi to be so direct. He ambiguously replied: "After you graduate from college, I guess!"
Currently a senior in high school, it would be five or six years before she graduated from college. By that time, Jian Corporation would probably have become Qiao Group!
"President Qiao, from now on, be a bit more diligent with Mom's medical fees!"
