Su Mei's friends looked at Chu Yang. Up to this point, Chu Yang hadn't spoken, which made them very angry.
"How ungrateful," they said. "Director Su has been so good to you, and now that Director Su is in trouble, you don't utter a word. You're like a turtle hiding in its shell—utterly disappointing."
"Director Su must have been blind to fall for someone like you. Ptui!"
"I don't think you're a man at all. Any man would be unable to bear seeing his woman bullied, but you've been able to endure it until now. I'm completely flabbergasted."
Su Mei's sisters ridiculed Chu Yang with scorn and sarcasm.
"Enough," Su Mei snapped, and her friends immediately shut their mouths.
Su Mei gave Chu Yang a deep look, filled with disappointment, and turned to Director Fan, saying, "Let's go."
Director Fan smiled broadly, very pleased with Su Mei's choice: "Heh heh, Director Su really knows the bigger picture. The sky's the limit for you."
