Little Ezra

In months, the news swirled through Grey Moon City like a whispered secret: the youngest jeweler, Adrian, had found his mate. But in the midst of the talks, a misunderstanding took root, the people believed Eleanor, Adrian's mate, to be human, and no one bothered to correct them, not even Caleb, who had grown wary of Eleanor, seeing her as a threat to his friendship with Adrian. Undeterred, Eleanor immersed herself in the community, navigating the complexities of discrimination with grace. A year after her union with Adrian, on a cloudy Saturday morning, their little miracle arrived, a precious bundle of joy, entered the world with piercing green eyes like his mother's and raven-black hair like his father's, Caleb's excitement was palpable, surpassing even that of the new parents, though he had yet to find his own mate, and showed no interest in doing so, he was so excited about the little child, he eagerly offered to name the boy, but his little mind went blank with names to name the boy. Melvin had to step in and christen the child, Ezra.

As little Ezra blossomed, his vampire powers struggled to find their footing, but his affinity for magic and teleportation - a gift from his mother - flourished. His parents watched with bated breath, fearful that his weak vampire abilities would make him a target in a city teeming with, wild and full blooded vampires, so they ensured he always had company anytime he stepped out of the house, but fate has a way of surprising us. At age four, Ezra's vampire powers surged, leaving his parents stunned and relieved and as he grew, his dual abilities intertwined, each complementing the other in a delicate dance. However, a new concern emerged - Ezra's introverted nature. Unlike his peers, who revelled in chaos, he shunned the spotlight, preferring solitude or the company of those closest to him. Desperate to coax him out of his shell, his parents invited children to the house for a night of play buy Ezra had other plans, as darkness fell, he vanished, leaving behind a trail of worry and confusion, the night descended into chaos, with no sign of the child, Luckily, he reappeared the following morning, his expression a mask of indifference, as if the previous night's events were nothing more than a distant memory, his father's scolding fell on deaf ears, met with a shrug and an unsettling calmness. After that night, nobody tried to bring him out of his shell, he spoke to people he was close to, that was better atleast.

The life of Adrian and his family was peaceful and filled with love, joy, happiness and a little worry which was caused by their son but there never a cause for alarm until Ezra aged six. It was a windy Thursday evening and as usual the citizens of Grey moon city were just filling the streets. In a butchers stand in a part of the city, Eleanor scanned the meat in her hand and smiled in satisfaction, it was just perfect to make soup for dinner, "I would take this" she said placing the meat I front of the butcher, "that's two gold coins" the butcher said, irritation laced in his voice, Eleanor paused taking out the coins she was intending to take out and stared deeply at him with a dull expression, "now I have to pay higher because I am not a vampire" she muttered "of course" the butcher muttered "well then, thanks for reminding me that old Greg has better prices" she said and proceeded to walk away "come take it for a gold coin" the butcher said immediately "sell it to those that can afford it" she said back without turning "aren't u being to prideful" the butcher yelled "ignore me, your honour" she said "fine come take it for 30 silver coins" he said and she paused "10 silver coins" she said and the butcher gritted his teeth "come take it" he said and she walked back to him with a satisfied smile, she paid the coins took her meat and strolled away but she didn't notice the black cloaked figure staring at her from afar, "you cut one of my long kept tail, sealed me under your painful spell for several days and you, you Eleanor dared to enter the land of vampires, get married, have a child and live life peacefully, you think you are so great to achieve all of those, sadly you won't last long to enjoy it" the figure muttered and turned to the scaly figure behind her "you know what to do Jessica" she said and the scaly figure nodded and slipped away. Eleanor moved to the next stall to get buns for her little son and some for Melvin, she had just finished her purchase when chaos erupted on the street, mere feet from Eleanor's location, a witch was caught lurking in the shadows. Vampires swiftly encircled her, brandishing makeshift weapons - rods, sticks, matches, and fuel, the witch's pitiful cry of "Sister, sister, I came for you!" echoed through the air, her outstretched hand pleading for Eleanor's help, the crowd's gaze shifted, bewildered and Eleanor's brow furrowed, sensing a sinister plot unfolding. "Sister, say something, save me!" the witch begged, Eleanor knew she had to do something before the situation escalated but her powers were mysteriously dormant, she couldn't cast spells or teleport, her gaze turned to the witch and a sly smirk spread across the witch's face, "Damn," Eleanor cursed, her mind racing, the witch continued to plead, "Please spare me, I only came for my sister!" it only made the vampires' anger hit a boiling point. "Adrian's mate is a witch!" someone bellowed. "She's deceived us all, including her husband, for six years! Let's burn her and her ugly sister!" the crowd roared in agreement, yet, in a shocking turn of events, Eleanor offered no resistance, she surrendered to the vampires with eerie calmness, her eyes gleaming with a secret only she knew.
