Jessica let out a shaky breath, her body taut despite the soothing warmth of the water and Damon's firm embrace.

His lips lingered against her neck, his breath warm and steady, unlike the wild hammering of her heart.

"Damon…" she whispered, her voice barely audible above the faint ripple of water.

"Yes?" His voice was calm, patient, almost as if they were discussing something mundane.

She swallowed hard, her hands gripping the edges of the tub. "I don't know if I can do this."
