The streetlights cast fleeting shadows across her face, but her expression was unreadable.

"Are you mad?" Damon asked, breaking the silence.

Jessica turned to him with a small smile tugging at her lips. "Mad? No. You handled yourself well back there despite Delilah's silliness." She leaned her head back against the seat.

"You seemed upset, especially when you asked that we leave," Damon said, and she grinned.

"I just wanted to leave quickly before Delilah decided to cause any more scenes."

Damon chuckled, shaking his head. "She really seemed to have gotten on your nerves tonight."
