Chapter 1

Trudge.

Trudge.

Trudge.

The day before my 5th birthday party.

I began to walk in a world of darkness. To navigate through the darkness so deep that no end was in sight, I kept moving forward in this world devoid of light.

Trudge.

Trudge.

Trudge.

I didn't know what lay ahead of me.

Fear gripped me at the thought that I might crash into something if I kept going.

It felt like I had been walking here for an unimaginably long time.

Seconds, maybe years, might have passed by in the blink of an eye.

Suddenly, I opened my eyes again, and as my consciousness returned to reality, I found myself staring into the familiar face of someone.

"Thank goodness... Thank goodness..."

Darius Zackly.

My father, and a leading figure in the military within the walls.

He, along with many doctors, including the renowned Grisha Yeager, welcomed me back and explained to me what had happened.

Someone had pushed me, causing me to tumble down the stairs severely, and I had been unconscious for 10 weeks.

If it weren't for the fact that my father, Zackly, had hired the famous doctor Grisha Yeager for a month, I would have remained in a vegetative state forever.

They said I was lucky to be alive.

Upon hearing this, I realized.

'I... I would have died if I had been just a bit less fortunate.'

Was death always this close?

If I had known, I would have played a bit harder in my previous life...

"Huh...?"

Previous life?

As soon as I became aware of that word, a sense of dissonance began to fill my mind.

Memories that didn't seem to belong to me kept surfacing in my head.

Memories of someone who lived on a planet called Earth.

As those memories started to take up more than half of my mind, I began to feel estranged from everything around me.

The body that had just been mine now felt like someone else's.

A familiar yet simultaneously strange voice came from my throat.

It felt as if I had been possessed. Everything felt awkward.

'And...'

Even my field of vision felt strange.

In a corner where the boundaries were not clearly defined, there was something blue and translucent.

As I focused my mind on it, it moved according to my will, and as I pressed it here and there, a large, strange sentence began to form in the center of my vision.

The content of the sentence, shining white, read:

[When more than 50,000 residents are eaten by Titans, you will be...]

Hmm...?

Hmm...?

Hmmm...?!

Was this... the world of Attack on Titan?
