The sun hung low in the sky as Alaric arrived at school, the warm golden light casting long shadows across the courtyard. He spotted Evelyn near the entrance, waiting for him with a look of concern etched on her face. She waved him over as soon as she saw him, her usual cheerful demeanor noticeably subdued.
"Alaric, can we talk for a minute?" Evelyn asked as he approached.
Alaric raised an eyebrow, sensing the tension in her voice. "Sure. What's going on?"
Evelyn glanced around nervously, making sure no one was listening. Once she was certain they were alone, she leaned in closer and whispered, "There are new werewolf families arriving in the city. My father and grandfather have been monitoring them, and they're not like the others. These newcomers are more aggressive, more dangerous."
Alaric's expression darkened slightly as he processed her words. "And you're telling me this because…?"
