Chapter 44: Burying the dead [2]

"Are you stupid?!" Elara was on the verge of shouting at me. What's with this reaction?

I looked at Jin for a while, who nodded after a few seconds.

"I trust that you'll use it well, but I can't just simply give it to you."

Elara calmed down after hearing Jin's response and returned to his seat: "You don't realize the risks of consuming that fruit. Just forget about it. And didn't Jin cure your addiction with the rest?"

I rested my head on my hand, continuing to look at Jin without responding. I became entirely resistant to negative effects after consuming the elixir from my phone.

But the Vaccine Jin got from old Adam only helped someone take the first step towards overcoming addiction and could only be used once. Maybe they guessed I wanted to consume the fruit to advance quickly and then take the Vaccine again.

Well, that was my plan, but with some differences. Perhaps Elara and Jin thought the same, which is why they didn't take my words seriously. Even though I had done a lot and proven myself to them, I still seemed like someone who had just stopped being a minor.

Also, didn't Jin hear the rumors about me? About me being a talented pharmacist? And my ability to make high-level potions without any effort?

If I continued my studies for a while after returning to my lab, I might be able to make ancient potions within a few months.

Jin nodded slightly and continued his meal.

Finally, he sighed, "Can you at least tell me the reason?"

I closed my eyes for a second, thought for a bit, and took a deep breath. I opened my eyes and looked at Jin's face. He had stopped eating entirely and was looking at me seriously and sternly.

The real reason I wanted the fruit was to reach rank B, where I would have a chance in the Inheritance war against Darian at least.

Things would be a lot simpler if I had been freed from the puppet society a month or so ago, but I was freed at this particular time... After the deadline had already passed by a few days.

When I left StarHold palace for the first time, I was supposed to return before the succession ceremony, which would take place six months later.

I got stuck on the Mountain of Fog for two and a half months, then in the puppet's society for just over four months.

The six-month deadline had already passed, and Darian should now be the actual head of the family. Since I would need the family's strength in the great war after a few years, and I didn't want Loana forces on my back, I needed to return and continue the Inheritance war.

Although I am the legitimate heir, the matter ended as soon as Darian sat on the throne. Fortunately, I wasn't too late, so he shouldn't have solidified his rule yet.

I could go and ignite the court of Inheritance as quickly as possible and reclaim my rule. But I needed to be at Darian's level or higher. That's if I wanted at least some supporters, which was indispensable.

I made my decision and spoke.

"I have a use for it. I want to increase my knowledge from it. Maybe gain some other benefits." I hesitated a bit about revealing my immunity and decided not to.

There's no problem telling Jin since I trust him now, but I hesitated with Elara and Killian. Although some trust was beginning to build between us, I decided to conceal it.

Especially Elara, trusting him is a decision that can't be made in a short time. After all, he is the older brother of someone in the MC's party— my younger brother Darian -.

His full name is Elara SunHold, the firstborn and legitimate heir of the SunHold royal family.

The elder brother of Elyssa SunHold, the current heir after Elara went missing for years.

And the son of Ceasar SunHold…

After knowing that, it's natural not to disclose any important information to him. I might tell Jin about my immunity later, but not now for sure.

{Get Down}

A tall girl stood in a white training room, surrounded by several people.

Her height was above average, her black hair reflecting the room's light as it reached the middle of her back. She was young, barely reaching adulthood six months ago, wearing glasses as she looked at the person in front of her.

Her hair glowed purple when she used mana and began to rise automatically. She was using the SunHold family's Legacy skill, , and her opponent was another young man.

He was noticeably shorter than average, with both his eyes and short hair dyed black, looking quite rough. Both wore training gear and used their mana skillfully for their age.

{Get Down!} The girl used her skill, and the young man found himself on one knee.

She hadn't even touched him, and her mana hadn't approached him either. Just hearing her voice was enough to decide the match.

"Aemon, you can improve your mastery of  even more! All you have to do is envelop yourself with more mana!." Another young man extended his hand to help him up.

He was tall, looking like an improved version of Cassian, his short black hair slicked back, and the blue glow from his eyes enough to make Aemon anxious.

Darian StarHold, truly the miracle of this generation.

From the side, Aemon found it difficult to compare himself to him, as if they weren't the same age at all.

"Darian, you talk as if it's easy." Aemon Black, one of Darian's party members, spoke.

"He's right, you can't learn Mana Domain in one night." Another member of the party, Elyssa SunHold, stepped forward to defend Aemon.

Darian put his hand behind his head for a second and looked at the corner of the room.

"It seems she won't join us today either." Darian said while looking at someone sleeping there, Elina Petrov.

"Yes, it seems she doesn't want to fit in with us much. I bet she'll leave us as soon as the monthly mission is over." Elyssa said, and Darian nodded in response.

"Enough talk! The test is near. We can't fall behind the other teams!" Darian moved away from the two a bit, and his body began to change strangely.

The StarHold family's Legacy skill, truly majestic.

Explaining the transformation in his appearance can't be done in a few sentences like Cassian. It's really a complex and majestic matter.

He grew significantly over two meters tall, and white horns emerged from where his eyebrows once were. Even his physique changed, looking extremely muscular from all angles, and his facial features were intricately sculpted.

He no longer resembled a human, even his head now looked like a helmet of some sort, and his eyes shone with a sinister and cunning red light.

Silver armor covered Darian's chest from all sides, this armor was part of his body, not external pieces. His entire body became metallic. Even his color turned metallic, with sharp horns protruding from the armor in some places, each harder than ordinary swords.

Long, sharp claws emerged from his hands, making anyone who saw them unconsciously touch their neck in fear. His color was predominantly metallic gray, but blood-red spots were present on some sharp edges, and white covered him randomly in some places.

This is the full beast form, majestic enough to make all demons flee at the mere sight of them. In ancient battlefields, warriors of this family were known as demon slayers…

Although he was already far from Aemon and Elyssa, they moved further away from him.

"Focus well on how I move my feet, and don't forget to envelop yourselves with more mana," Darian disappeared into the air after giving some instructions, and it was extremely difficult to follow him as he moved.

In the corner of the room, Elina Petrov noticed with interest and laughed a bit at the expressions on the two's faces.

"Interesting," she muttered sarcastically, though no one heard her at that moment.
