"You're lucky, kid," Orion remarked, scooping up his hammer. I had just ended my skill, and the charged energy in the air had started to ebb away.
"If it had lasted one more second, I would've exhausted my entire core. The whole city might have gone up in flames."
I let out a short laugh. "You really think threatening me after what I just did is a smart move?"
Orion's body went rigid for a heartbeat, then he burst into raucous laughter again. "Forget companions. Never in all of recorded history has there been a summoned individual as insolent as you!"
A moment later, his mirth subsided. "We might have to fight outside the city later to figure out how we're going to deal with each other from now on."
I raised an eyebrow. "From now on? You're talking like we're going to stick together for a while."
