Chapter 4: The Map Of Myriad Dimensions (2)

Opening the book, Alex saw his name at the top of the page. In the center was a groove, and nestled within was a beautiful white gem, surrounded by a cold mist that lent it an icy feel.

At the bottom of the interface were three options: [Summon][Enhance][Teleport].

This was what Alex had obtained upon arriving in this world—the Map of Myriad Dimensions!

Most importantly, this was the game system Alex had designed before his reincarnation!

Looking at this incredibly familiar cover, Alex couldn't help but twitch his mouth. He had only speculated before, but now he was certain—this was indeed the system he had developed!

This was a new mobile game still in development, called "Map of Myriad Dimensions." In it, players could choose their gender and avatar.

According to the game's setting, players would be caught in a temporal vortex for some reason, waking up to find themselves in a new world.

There, they would encounter a large book called the "Map of Myriad Dimensions," beginning their new journey.

In the game, obtaining the Map of Myriad Dimensions would make the player a "Dimensional Mage," meaning a mage who travels through different dimensions.

They could use the map to teleport to various dimensional planes to complete tasks and earn dimensional points.

These points could be used to summon soul stones containing the power of strong souls from other dimensions or to enhance the attributes of these soul stones.

At this moment, Alex was equipped with a soul stone he obtained from his first "novice summon"—the Lich King Arthur.

As the game's developer, Alex naturally knew how to use soul stones. There were two ways to use them.

One was simply to "embed" them in the Map of Myriad Dimensions, granting a permanent buff that provided a certain level of enhancement.

Unless Alex used dimensional points to enhance the soul stone, it would only offer a limited boost. Enhancing it would gradually unlock new abilities and skills, much like leveling up in a game.

The other way was to fully activate the power of the soul stone. During activation, Alex could use all the abilities of the entity contained in the soul stone, almost indistinguishably from the original.

The power Alex used in his battle against those knights was the true strength of the Lich King. Before the Lich King, even the Holy Kingdom's regular knights were fragile and easily defeated.

Unfortunately, while activation seemed cool, it had many limitations.

First, after activation, it would temporarily cool down, just like a skill's cooldown.

Second, activation had limited uses.

The soul stone of [Arthur] that Alex summoned could only be activated five times in total. Once the activation uses were exhausted, the soul stone of [Arthur] would completely collapse and disappear.

In such a case, Alex would have to either summon other soul stones or... just wait to die.

[This cursed sword craves souls filled with pain, and your task is to satisfy its hunger—Frostmourne is starving (the bearer must acquire no less than 1,000 soul power in the next quest world. Successful completion rewards +1 random item, failure subjects the bearer to Soulrend's curse, countdown 24H)]

"Just great…"

Looking at this quest prompt, Alex couldn't help but grind his teeth. He already knew that the so-called soul power referred to human souls.

To complete this task, Alex would need to kill a thousand people… They weren't pigs! Even if it were a thousand pigs lined up, he probably couldn't kill them all in a day!

But to give up this quest? Ha… Alex wasn't oblivious to the horror of this sword's curse. Frostmourne's curse—there was no way he could withstand that.

What frustrated Alex more was that he had no idea how he ended up with this thing. He clearly remembered that he had only completed the system's main framework and settings; the soul stones and other quest dimensions hadn't been finished.

The programming team hadn't even started working on them. So how was he able to summon a soul stone, and such a powerful one as the Lich King's?

And then there was the dimensional teleportation…

"Ugh…"

Staring at the panel before him, Alex sighed deeply. If possible, he really didn't want to complete this quest. After all, there was no telling which world the system would send him to.

But if he didn't go, Alex knew very well that with his current strength, he'd be at the mercy of the Holy Kingdom if they sent someone after him.

Alex had considered hiding in the quest world forever, but he knew that each quest world had a time limit.

Moreover, like the soul stones, the teleportation function had a cooldown period after each use.

Thus, Alex couldn't hide in the quest world indefinitely, nor could he avoid the Holy Kingdom and the Church of Doom by constantly doing quests.

His only option was to strengthen himself. Besides, Alex had a feeling that if he didn't go to the quest world now, he might never escape.

And his premonitions were usually accurate.

"Teleport!"

With this thought, Alex didn't hesitate any longer. He snapped the book shut with a "pop" and muttered under his breath.

Immediately, the heavy Map of Myriad Dimensions in his hand transformed into rings of light that enveloped him.

In the next moment, Alex's figure vanished, and the scattered rings of light quickly disintegrated into tiny particles and disappeared.

"Whoosh… Whoosh…"

Not long after Alex vanished, the sound of wings flapping filled the air, and soon, several pure white pegasi descended to the spot where Alex had been hiding.

"My sister, have you found anything?"

The man riding one of the pegasi, clad in similar silver-white armor to the knights Alex had seen before, carefully scanned the ground and asked softly.

Hearing his question, the female knight on another pegasus closed her eyes, sensed for a moment, and then shook her head.

"I can't detect any trace of him. Brother, I believe he has already left this place."

"Cursed cultist…"

Hearing the female knight's response, the man clenched his fist tightly.

"Not only did he kill our comrades, but he also desecrated their bodies and souls! Such actions are unforgivable! In the name of the Goddess of Order, we will not let our comrades die in vain! Justice will be served!"

With that, the man waved his hand forcefully.

"Let's move, keep searching! That cultist can't have gone far! He must be nearby. Search every inch of this area!"
