Chapter 26: Who Exactly is He?

Chapter 26: Who Exactly is He?

"Old man, what are you up to now?"

Stone glared at the old bishop, clearly displeased.

"We're not going on a picnic here. What's the point of bringing along a delicate young lady?"

"What's the point?"

Hearing Stone's peculiar phrasing, borrowed from Alex, the old bishop rolled his eyes helplessly.

"The point is! Don't forget, there's a spatial restriction there. Without this young lady's help, even if you find the person, how do you plan on coming back? Unless you want to run back a thousand miles from the Shadow Canyon, there's no other way without the Star Path."

"Alright, if that's the case, I have no objections."

Hearing the bishop's response, Stone was left speechless. He knew breaking out of the Shadow Canyon was impossible for him, and under the spatial restriction, no ordinary methods would allow them to leave.

So, if they wanted to return safely, bringing along this delicate young lady was necessary.

Stone wisely shut his mouth, stepped into the teleportation array with Alex, and the young girl followed.

Perhaps Stone's stern face looked intimidating, or maybe it was because she had met Alex before, but the girl stayed closer to Alex, cautiously watching Stone.

"Alright, it's up to you now, little girl."

Stone didn't seem to mind this minor detail. He took a deep breath, his expression becoming serious.

"Let's see where you can send us."

"Okay... I understand..."

The girl responded weakly, then closed her eyes. Soon, Alex saw one blue light after another quietly appear around her, connected by straight lines, forming a constellation-like pattern that encircled the three of them.

"Is this the Star Path?"

Alex watched the twinkling constellation chart with great interest, feeling it resembled high-tech holographic projections from his previous life.

He knew a bit about the Star Path; simply put, it was a natural phenomenon on this continent, similar to tides.

He didn't fully understand the principle, but he knew it involved overlapping oneself with a constellation projection and folding space to teleport—something akin to wormholes?

Because the Star Path was a natural phenomenon, it wasn't restricted by space-blocking spells.

However, summoning the Star Path required immense talent and powerful computational ability, making it rare. This soft-spoken girl was clearly not as simple as she seemed.

"I've found it..."

At that moment, the girl suddenly spoke, her eyes still closed, brow slightly furrowed.

"A life star... is about to disappear... coordinates fixed... now!"

As soon as the girl finished speaking, Alex saw a large hole appear in the space above them as if it had been torn open. Before he could react, a powerful suction force pulled him and Stone inside.

It was a very peculiar experience.

Upon entering the hole, Alex first saw endless stars and the vast, boundless universe. He felt as if he were floating in space.

But soon, it felt like he was sliding down an invisible slide in a specific direction at an incredible speed.

His speed increased rapidly, and the scenery changed swiftly, with stars stretching into long trails before merging into a pure white expanse...

"Bang!!"

The next moment, Alex felt like he had reached the end of the slide and was thrown out, landing hard on the ground.

"Ow..."

The feeling of landing hard on his backside was unpleasant, but Alex didn't have time to dwell on it.

As soon as he landed, he heard a low growl next to his ear, followed by the sound of a weapon slicing through the air behind him!

"Oh, come on!"

At this moment, the experience Alex had gained in the free quest finally came into play. Instinctively, he rolled on the ground, dodging the attack.

He then reached for his waist, drew his Skybreaker Sword, and looked ahead, only to be stunned.

In front of him were a dozen skeletal soldiers wielding weapons and clad in tattered armor. Their eye sockets glowed with a bright red light, forming a semicircle that surrounded Alex.

Not far from him, a knight lying on the ground stared wide-eyed in shock at the young man who had appeared out of nowhere.

"Who's There!!"

It's no wonder the knight had this question. Just moments ago, he was prepared to fight to the death against these undead creatures.

But unexpectedly, just as he was about to make his desperate stand, a flash of light appeared, and this young man suddenly materialized before him.

Since Alex was only an apprentice Guardian Knight and not an official member of the Temple, he wasn't wearing the standard armor of the Temple like Stone.

Instead, he was still dressed in the noble attire he had worn when he arrived at Star-Moon City. Because of this, the knight did not recognize Alex's affiliation.

Nonetheless, seeing Alex draw his weapon and prepare to strike back against the undead, the knight couldn't help but warn him.

"Be careful, these are undead..."

However, before the knight could finish his sentence, Alex had already made his move.

The holy light of the Skybreaker Sword erupted instantly. Stepping forward, Alex swung his blade, unleashing a dazzling golden sword beam that struck the undead soldiers.

Golden cross patterns appeared and exploded on their bodies, sending them flying.

Crusader Strike!

Having successfully landed the blow, Alex seized the opportunity, pointing his sword forward. Three crimson giant swords erupted from the ground, shattering the skeletal archers at the rear.

Then, a faint holy light appeared around Alex, and the next moment, he gripped his sword with both hands and charged into the ranks of the undead like a fierce tiger.

"Boom!"

The leading undead warrior barely had time to lift its weapon before Alex decapitated it with a single strike.

Raising his sword, Alex attracted streams of light that condensed around him, forming dozens of brilliant light swords.

The swords then leveled, aiming at the encroaching enemies, and spun outward, shredding the undead's bodies and souls like a merciless blender.

Holy Storm!

The severely injured knight was stunned. He had seen similar power before, but Alex's dazzling, special effects-laden swordsmanship left him utterly shocked.

Fortunately, amidst the holy light Alex wielded, the knight sensed no undead or evil aura, which somewhat reassured him—at least for now, it seemed Alex wasn't allied with the undead.

Despite this, the knight couldn't help but gasp as he looked at Alex's young and handsome face. Previously, he hadn't seen Alex's face clearly, but now, he was astonished.

As a knight directly under the Temple's bishopric, he had encountered many powerful individuals.

But most were significantly older, with the youngest already past middle age. Yet this young man... could he even be twenty years old?

Who exactly is he?

Could he be a descendant of some hidden family? What is he doing here?

As the knight pondered Alex's identity with a serious expression, he saw the young nobleman sheathe his weapon and walk over, extending a hand.

"You must be the Temple's knight. Looks like I wasn't too late..."

"Uh... what?"

Hearing this, the knight was momentarily stunned. Then he looked up at Alex.
