As Lin Xuanhao navigated through the Great Restriction Land, he encountered more wild animals the deeper he went.
This naturally did not cause any problem for him, but it would have been better if he could fly through the Great Restriction Land.
He actually had a flying sword inside of his Storage Ring, however, to probe open the Storage Ring, he needed Divine Sense, which only cultivators of at least the Qi Refining Realm had.
Those at the Meridian Connecting Realm could not coat normal objects with Spirit Qi, the object they were using Spirit Qi on needed to be a Spirit Artifact of at least the Low Rank Mortal Grade.
Spirit Artifacts were divided into three grades, they were the Mortal Grade, Yellow Grade, and Profound Grade from the lowest to highest respectively. They were further on divided into Low Rank, Mid Rank, and High Rank, each rank corresponding to a mortal realm.
After the High Rank Black Grade Spirit Artifacts were Divine Artifacts, but that's an explanation for later.
Low Rank Mortal Grade Spirit Artifacts corresponded to the Meridian Connecting Realm.
The point is, there was no way for Lin Xuanhao to get a Spirit Artifact as of right now.
After some more time, Lin Xuanhao finally got out of the Great Restriction Land.
Before him lay a vast plain with a great mountain range shaped like a roaring dragon on the other side.
The plain was surrounded by hills and other smaller mountains alike, waterfalls flowing out of them, making it look spectacular.
He slowly walked through the the green plains, admiring the scenery along the way before his eyes landed on a certain chicken running around.
Upon closer look, he figured that this was not a normal chicken but had a trace of Spirit Qi within it.
"It possesses the direct bloodline of a Spirit Chicken, huh? Interesting."
Musing to himself, Lin Xuanhao went towards the chicken.
Seeing him approach it, the chicken was about to escape, however, the next second, Lin Xuanhao had already grabbed it from behind and lifted it up, injecting some Spirit Qi in it to calm it down.
Before he could guess where this chicken came from, he suddenly sensed someone running towards him.
Turning around, he saw an old man dressed like an ordinary farmer coming towards him from the mountain range in front of him. His brows curled up into a frown and he had a slight stubble on his face.
At first glance, he indeed seemed like an ordinary farmer, however, to Lin Xuanhao, he immediately figured out that this old man was actually at the Sixth Stage of Body Forging Realm!
The old man also seemed to have noticed Lin Xuanhao and quickly appeared before him. Looking at him up and down, the old man was slightly taken aback by Lin Xuanhao's almost otherworldly appearance.
"This young friend over here, it seems you have caught an escaping chicken of mine. I have to thank you for this."
The old man spoke with a smile on his face.
"There doesn't seem to be any human settlement nearby. Where do you hail from?"
Lin Xuanhao also asked with a smile.
Hearing his question, the old man stiffened ever so slightly, but still couldn't escape Lin Xuanhao's eyes.
"There's a mountain village near that mountain range, it's where I live. This chicken was given to me by a very important person, so I need to take good care of it. Young friend, why don't you hand it over to me?"
He replied, pointing towards another smaller mountain range besides the Red Dragon Mountain Range.
Lin Xuanhao slightly raised his eyebrows.
"Oh? But I've heard no humans live around the Red Dragon Mountain Range?"
He said with a slight chuckle, still holding the chicken with one hand.
"Bok-bok-bokow!"
The chicken clucked, it was unknown whether it was happy or sad.
Hearing Lin Xuanhao's words, the old man stiffened even more.
"It seems you have heard wrongly, young friend. Humans indeed do live around the Red Dragon Mountain Range, however, we are all descendents of hunters and gatherers from the past 100 years who were raised around here and have never come into contact with the outside world. That must be why there are such rumors. Our ancestors were from the Great Yun Dynasty and got lost here, making a village when they couldn't get out because of the ferocious animals in the Great Restriction Land."
He replied with a smile plastered on his face, seemingly speaking the truth.
Lin Xuanhao patted the head of the chicken in his hand before speaking, "Is that so? By any chance, were your ancestors connected to Immortal Cultivators..."
However, at the instance before he could even finish his words, a sharp foot long knife came hurling towards him at an extremely fast speed, tearing through the air pressure.
*Clang!*
The next moment, the knife was caught between Lin Xuanhao's index and middle fingers by its tip, shaking from the impact of the force.
Lin Xuanhao narrowed his eyes as he smiled at the old man before flicking his fingers, throwing the knife tens of feet away as it pierced into the ground.
The old man couldn't help but widen his eyes in shock as he took more than 10 steps back in a single breath, not bothering to hide his prowess anymore.
"Do mot make this more difficult, fellow daoist! Hand me the chicken and get out of here!"
The old man roared angrily, veins bulging on his forehead.
"I don't need the chicken, even if it is a descendent of a Spirit Chicken. However, in exchange for it, I want to know where the Red Dragon City is located."
Lin Xuanhao spoke calmly, his eyes following every small movement of the old man.
As soon as the old man heard Lin Xuanhao's words, he halted in his steps, sweat dripping from his forehead.
How did this fellow figure out that the chicken was a descendent of a Spirit Beast?
Could it be...A Meridian Connecting Realm cultivator who can sense the flow of Spirit Qi in everything!?
The old man swallowed before speaking again, "Why is a senior such as yourself messing with me? I'm just a poor cultivator living in the outskirts of the Red Dragon City who can't even be considered a Spirit Farmer, being only at the Body Forging Realm. I obtained that chicken by chance from a senior and searched for over tens of miles when it ran away in the morning. If it can give birth to a few more chickens carrying the bloodline of a Spirit Chicken, then I'll be able to buy resources and advance my cultivation."
He explained in a way that could make the other party sympathize with him, however, Lin Xuanhao ignored all those words and quickly caught on a few key points.
"You live in the outskirts of the Red Dragon City? Where is it?"
He asked, turning his attention back to the chicken in his hand.
"Th-the Red Dragon City is located at the tallest mountain in the middle of the Red Dragon Mountain Range...however, I advice you to not go there and cause any trouble as there is no lack of Meridian Connecting Realm seniors just like yourself there. Even a Qi Refining Realm senior may get alerted because of you."
The old man spoke, his eyes never leaving the chicken on Lin Xuanhao.
It was his last ray of hope for breaking through to the Meridian Connecting Realm. He was already over 50 years old and did not have much longer left to live.
If he could enter the Meridian Connecting Realm, then his lifespan would push forward to over a hundred years.
Though it all now depended on the seemingly young senior in front of him.
"Here, take it."
Saying this, Lin Xuanhao suddenly threw the chicken into the air towards the old man.
The old man quickly raised his hands and came forward, catching the chicken in his arms.
He finally calmed down after he got his hands on the chicken, the previous hope of his reigniting.
"You could have told me from the beginning. Why go so far? Life is a precious thing. Take care of it."
As he said this, Lin Xuanhao smiled slightly and turned around, staring at the tallest mountain in the entirety of the mountain range before him, stretching out to tens of miles and being over 5,000 feet tall.
So this is the Red Dragon Mountain Range...I'll he staying there for the next few days, huh?
Thinking to himself, he started moving towards the Red Dragon Mountain Range the same way he came, walking tens of feet with a single step.
The old man stared at the departing figure of the so called senior before him in a daze until it soon disappeared into the distant, no longer visible.
He looks so young, and he's already a Meridian Connecting Realm cultivator...
He slowly gazed upwards, seeing that the sun had already started to slowly go down.
And people like me struggle for decades, only to end up doing nothing notable.
Life is so unfair in many aspects.
As soon as this thought appeared in his mind, he suddenly remembered that person's words.
"Life is a precious thing. Take care of it."
Thinking of it, he shook his head as he let out a small laugh, looking down at the chicken in his hand.
"Right. Life is precious indeed."
