Chapter Twelve

Lilian suddenly sprang up from her bed.She quickly dash into the bathroom to throw up.She bends beside the closet and gulps out the food she had eaten the night before and the alcohol.She stands up after she was done and went over to the sink to wash her mouth.She held her stomach as it relentlessly rumbles while she walks over back to sit on her bed.She lays a hand on her forehead and figures she's coming down with a fever.

"Fuck"she mutters as she lay back on the bed lazily while drawing the sheets back on her body.Just then,she recalls the night before.She sprang up again as her eyes wildened.She runs her hands through her frizzled hair and heaves.She could hardly remember what happened the night before but she only remembered what she had done.She remembers herself kissing Austin and what happened afterwards is blank to her.She lands back on the bed and laid there like a dead person.She thought of getting back to sleep because of the headache she was having but she couldn't do that when her mind is occupied with last night's thoughts.

She reluctantly stands up and head over to take a pain reliever pill.She finds one in her beside cabinet's drawer and she saunters outside to take water.She puts the pill in her mouth and quickly gulp down water to swallow it.She sees everywhere is nearer than it had been the day before and figured Austin must have helped her clean.She smiles and goes back into laying on her bed.As the day goes,she grows more weakened and she couldn't stand from the bed at all.She wondered if she should call Austin since she had no one else to call.She wouldn't want her dead body to be found whenever Austin thinks to check up on her.She moves slowly on the bed to retrieve her phone that had been on the cabinet.

She takes it and go through her call list to find Austin's number.When she was angry with him,she had saved his name as 'penguin' on her phone.She taps on the name and the call went through.Austin picks up on the second ring.

"Lilian"Austin said through the other end of the phone.He was surprised to see her calling when he thought she would be curled up on the sofa regretting her actions the night before.

"I'm feeling sick"Lilian said very quietly that Austin could hardly hear what she said.His eyes wildens as he was scared to hear her coming up with an illness.

"Oh Lily,I'm coming home right now,hold on please"Austin said quicker than he had usually talked.After ending the call with her,he immediately dialed Mrs Raver's number.He informed the older woman to go check up on Lilian before he arrives.

"You have a meeting with the staffs in the next thirty minutes sir"Billy informed when he sees Austin rushing out of his office.

"It's postponed till next week"Austin said and quickly stride past Billy who was left wondering what happened.

Austin walks briskly over to his car and gets in.He drives with sped home and run towards the cottage.He knocks but then sees the door was unlocked.He pushes the door open and goes in.

"Mr Byers,you are here"Mrs Raver said while she held a bowl with a cloth inside in her grip

"How is she"Austin asked while panting.Mrs Raver looked skeptically at Austin before talking.

"She has a fever and I'm no doctor"Mrs Raver said and walks back in to nurture the sick Lilian.Austin follows in and sees Lilian laid on the bed,her eyes were closed while Mrs Raver uses the cloth to clean her body.

"I should call Dr Lambert"Austin said and goes out to the small spaces living room.He dials Dr Lambert's number and informs him to come over at once.

"We should move her to the mansion"Austin suggested and Mrs Raver nods.

"But she obviously can't stand on her foot"Mrs Raver said and Austin tells her to help Lilian in standing up so he could carry her on his back.Lilian opens her eyes slowly when Mrs Raver supported her in standing up.Though her visions were blurry but she could see how worried Austin looked at her.He bends and Lilian fell lightly on his back.Lilian held tightly around her neck as he gets up and hold on to her legs.Mrs Raver,even with her stone heart couldn't help but smile at the sight.She had been against Lilian ever getting close to Austin but she at once felt the two needed each other.Austin walks slowly while Lilian stick to his back like a glue.They both were aware of each other's body as the clothes they wore is the only thing separating them.

Austin walks through the series of stares and finally got to his room.He lays her on the bed lightly and draws up the covers on her.

"Dr Lambert will be here soon"he whispers to her and sits beside her.Lilian nods and soon after,she drifts to sleep.Austin watches as she sweats profusely and he uses his handkerchief to wipe it off.He somewhat wished he could share her pain with the way she constantly moves her head uncomfortably on the bed.Her lips had gotten more pale every passing seconds which worried Austin more.He sprangs up instantly and dial Dr Lambert's number again.

"I will be there soon Mr Byers"Dr Lambert said through the phone.

"Please hurry"Austin said and ends the call.He unties his tie and threw it on the floor.Mrs Raver knocks and enters the room with a tray of hot tea in hand.

"She will be okay Mr Byers"Mrs Raver said.

"Here have this to calm down"She said and motions for Austin to take the tea she was holding.

"Don't worry about me Mrs Raver,I don't need tea"Austin said sternly and Mrs Raver didn't bother pushing it.She nods and then leaves the room.

Soon after,another knock came on the door and Dr Lambert comes in.Austin heaves a sigh of relief and goes over to meet up with the man.

"She's burning"Austin said with his worried lines very much visible.Dr Lambert goes to sit beside Lilian and begins to examine her.

"It's just fever Mr Byers,she will be okay"Dr Lambert said which somehow infuriated Austin.He finds it upsetting for Dr Lambert to have used the term 'just' when Lilian seems to be suffering.He stood watching Dr Lambert do his job while he prays inwardly.He was scared he could lose her too just like he lost everyone else he loved.
