Chapter 7 Ex-girlfriend

Yao Qing subconsciously withdrew her gaze, wondering how to start speaking, when she saw Yu Yanshen stride toward her.

His presence was overwhelming, and the moment he approached, Yao Qing stepped back, her body completely pressed against the wall with no way to retreat.

At that moment, she felt a flicker of regret, wishing she hadn't intentionally missed that step.

Seeing Yanshen around the corner, she wanted to know if this man would come to her rescue.

To save his ex-girlfriend of four years.

It wasn't about proving anything; it was just a sudden rush of alcohol to her head, wanting to see if this man was still as ruthless as he had been four years ago.

Now it seemed, although he had developed some empathy over the years, willing to help his ex-girlfriend, he had become even more dangerous.

She should not have provoked him; being strangers was the best choice.

"After studying for four years, graduating from college, I've of course come back to serve the motherland," Yao Qing said, her head down, Yanshen could not see her expression.

"Coming to Beauty Village to serve?" His voice was just above her head, and he seemed to be mocking her as he said it.

Yao Qing's brows slightly furrowed in subtlety, a throbbing pain at her temple, "What are you trying to say?"

"I saved you, and this is your attitude?"

Yao Qing was forced to look up, only then realizing that Yanshen's arm was resting on the wall, trapping her within the cage he had created; their current posture was indeed suggestive.

"Yanshen, as a beacon for the youth, should not choose to stand by and let someone die. What kind of attitude should one have after being rescued, especially since it doesn't match up with your status," she said, staring into Yanshen's eyes, her hand on her knee curling and uncurling.

This man... his aura was hundreds of times stronger than that of the famous director they had just encountered at the table.

"Who said I was an excellent youth," Yanshen raised an eyebrow, his thin cold lips curling into an ambiguous smile, "And who said I am the beacon for the youth?"

"That's what people on the internet say," Yao Qing went silent for two seconds.

The depth in Yanshen's gaze intensified, his long narrow eyes imperceptibly narrowing, "Online? Am I an excellent youth or a thuggish ruffian, Miss Yao, aren't you well aware of that?"

"..."

Yao Qing realized she couldn't out-talk Yanshen.

This man's mind was just as sharp as it had been four years ago, with a counter for everything she said.

Yao Qing simply lowered her stance, "Well then, thank you, Yanshen, for your generosity in coming to save me from danger. You could be nominated as one of the world's top ten most touching people. Would you like me to present a banner of honor to you?"

"No need," Yanshen's voice was indifferent, "Seeing an ex-girlfriend in trouble, it was right to lend a hand."

Ex-girlfriend...

A surge of memory suddenly swept through her mind, and although Yao Qing's expression did not change, she loosened the hand she had been clenching, as if her entire demeanor had relaxed.

"It's hard to believe Yanshen still remembers me, his ex-girlfriend," she said, pointing to Yanshen's arm that was imprisoning her, "Saving your ex-girlfriend is understandable, but trapping her really isn't appropriate. Would you like to let me go?"

Yanshen, sensing Yao Qing's sudden change of emotion, had no time to ponder it before she ducked under his arm and slipped away.

The woman had a petite figure but was gracefully proportioned.

Her exquisite fishtail dress perfectly accentuated her assets, making her all the more enchanting. Watching her retreating figure, Yanshen's brow furrowed deeply.

After standing contemplatively for a moment, he strode after her.

"If you're going to wear the label of being my ex-girlfriend, at least dress properly. Wearing that is practically the same as wearing nothing. Whose face are you throwing away?"
